Lotto America is run by MSLU, the Powerball people. Supposedly, it replaced the Hot Lotto game which was destroyed by Eddie Tipton who programmed winning numbers in for relatives, friends, and eventually himself when he worked for the lottery, and was caught and sent to jail. Additionally, there is a difference in the method the multiplier is selected. Mega Millions uses a Ball Drawn Number, whereas, Powerball Lotto America uses a Computer Generated Number.

Different game, same name. I can remember Lotto America as the predecessor to Powerball? Prior to leaving for Deutschland won $114 on it. Also remember a Pentagon Soldier won $5 million mid 80's and despite the regulation in place, the Army was giving him a hard time getting discharged.
