Powerball is $3 here in Idaho. They bundle the multiplier with it for your convenience. Can't buy a ticket here without the multiplier. Then we have the Double Play for another dollar which isn't a bad price for a chance at a $10 million dollar top prize. So for me, Powerball already costs $4.

While there are games that cost more than $5..... $10 scratchers, $20 scratchers, $50 scratchers, $20 raffle tickets, etc., the difference is that in those games, you have a vastly higher chance of winning a large amount of money. The MM multiplier is drawn by the terminal when you buy your ticket. All the multipliers are the same when you buy a multi-line ticket, but you can get a different multiplier for the same drawing if you buy a separate ticket.

No, it is true that you are guaranteed a multiplier of at least 10x on the second prize if you buy 5 tickets with the same five white ball numbers. This doesn't guaranteed you will win it but rather guarantee the amount. You are also going to have a 1 in 58 million chance to win the jackpot with those 5 tickets that have 5 different megaballs. The multiplier on the 3rd and lower prizes will vary since they are a combination of white balls and megaball match/no match.

I used to drive to Oregon when Idaho first bundled the multiplier for my convenience. I used that as my protest for about a year and a half, then got tired of the hour drive over there and an hour back. Montana and Wyoming are too far to drive. Wyoming is about 5 hours one way and Montana is farther I think.

I skip the double play option. The odds are the same as the powerball. But I do get the bonus multiplier. And speaking of the double play. Where does that money go if no one wins?
