It makes a lot of sense. John shared the prize with a girlfriend who wasn't Sara, so the most plausible explanation is that they went halvsies on purchasing some tickets for that drawing. Lotteries split prizes among members of lottery pools all the time, whether it's a pool of 2 or 20. That girlfriend, whoever she was, probably split from John already. You'd have to be nuts to stay with a guy who is constantly battling with the mother of his child when you have $250 million to do literally
