Kentucky Lottery and legislature tussle over cash reserves
Thanks Bluedog101! We're really proud of our scholarship and grant programs. In Shelby County there just last year we provided 1039 kids a little more than $2,000,000 to attend college. When you build this out to when the program started in 1999, there have been 12,309 kids right there in Shelby County who have received more than $18,200,000 in scholarships and grants - all paid for by Kentucky Lottery proceeds. I'm glad your friend's daughter is able to use some of these dollars!

Kentucky Lottery and legislature tussle over cash reserves
A nurse @ work was telling me how the scholarships work and how wonderful it is. No smoke and mirrors here, she was extremely happy about it for her daughter.

Kentucky Lottery and legislature tussle over cash reserves
Not so. KY Lottery proceeds have provided $2.4 BILLION to fund college scholarships and grants for more than 660,000 Kentucky students since 1999. In fact, 95 cents of every dollar of non-loan student aid awarded by the Commonwealth comes straight from the sale of KY Lottery tickets.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery's director of sales was given a choice Monday resignation or termination. Lottery Director Bishop Woosley confirmed Monday that Robert Stebbins, who has been with the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery as the group's director of sales since its start, is no longer working for the program. Woosley said early Monday night that Stebbins was told he'd be fired if he didn't quit, but Woosley said he doesn't know which option Stebbins will take. There was no answer ...

Wow WA Lotto might shut down due to budget..
There are some states that create a scholarship budget based on expected lottery winnings. Some states MM's sales averaged less than $100,000 during the last jackpot run; I wonder how that would affect their scholarships if they had to pay one player $3 million like Virginia did.

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
I will say for good measure that my Bright Futures Scholarship afforded me the opportunity to go to and Graduate from the University of Florida, which in turn afforded me an amazing opportunity to work for myself and have the money to dump back into the lottery! LOL So-called program it is not.

Lottery ramblings.
correct, that's why if you have a system that works, you sip from the cup. but also the lottery does more than just make a profit at least in some states. they do contribute to state taxes and also a portion goes to educational scholarships and aid. kinda putting all that money to good use to help progress the state.

Online Lottery Play
The government helps themselves to our money having squandered much of what they already received. If our government really wanted to help they would reduce their share of the take. Make it easier to win, smaller game matrix evenly divisable such as 5/35 and 6/48 games. Make the prizes tax free. Pour the game profits into scholarships. Wake me up when it happens. BobP
