Consultant lays out 'ambitious' vision for Arkansas Lottery
A consultant for the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery envisions ticket sales steadily increasing from $450 million in the current fiscal year to $615 million by fiscal 2021 and net proceeds for scholarships rising from $85 million to $109 million in the same period. Camelot Global Services' self-described ambitious five-year business plan proposes many changes, including overhauling the portfolio of scratch-off and draw-game tickets, increasing the lottery's $5 million marketing budget to $7.5 mi ...

Falling lottery sales pinch college scholarships
I agree gibbybah640. They would rather cut the scholarship money available than their salaries and bonuses. I think that maintaining a 2.5 GPA should have been a criteria for scholarships from the very beginning. If the lottery scholarships were awarded after all other options were exhausted, and you worked that hard to get into college, maintaining a C average shouldn't be too difficult. I've never seen a college or universities' books (pardon the pun), but it seems like the outrageous ...

Falling lottery sales pinch college scholarships
Now lawmakers in at least eight states have made or are considering making dramatic cuts to scholarship programs funded by lotteries. It looks like the legislators are blaming lottery players because they can't keep their promises. It's always the same, legislators spend money before they know how much money they have to spend.

Falling lottery sales pinch college scholarships
The ticket-buying frenzy that erupted over January's $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot wasn't enough to reverse a long-running trend: Proceeds from lottery games aren't keeping pace with the higher education costs they were supposed to pay. Now lawmakers in at least eight states have made or are considering making dramatic cuts to scholarship programs funded by lotteries. The programs, aimed at opening access to college by providing nearly free tuition, include one at the University of New Mexic ...

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
Sounds about right. So, why do you scratch then? Is it the enjoyment, and the elusive hope of hitting it big? Even though I know it is a losing bet , I still find it fun to play scratch tickets. I think there could be worse addictions out there. Our losses from scratching goes toward education, such as the Florida Bright Futures scholarship.

Kentucky Lottery and legislature tussle over cash reserves
Thanks Bluedog101! We're really proud of our scholarship and grant programs. In Shelby County there just last year we provided 1039 kids a little more than $2,000,000 to attend college. When you build this out to when the program started in 1999, there have been 12,309 kids right there in Shelby County who have received more than $18,200,000 in scholarships and grants - all paid for by Kentucky Lottery proceeds. I'm glad your friend's daughter is able to use some of these dollars!

Kentucky Lottery and legislature tussle over cash reserves
A nurse @ work was telling me how the scholarships work and how wonderful it is. No smoke and mirrors here, she was extremely happy about it for her daughter.

Kentucky Lottery and legislature tussle over cash reserves
Not so. KY Lottery proceeds have provided $2.4 BILLION to fund college scholarships and grants for more than 660,000 Kentucky students since 1999. In fact, 95 cents of every dollar of non-loan student aid awarded by the Commonwealth comes straight from the sale of KY Lottery tickets.
