The New Jersey Lottery has set a new sales record. Officials say the agency pulled in about $2.6 billion in the last fiscal year. That's $31.5 million more than the previous year, and marks the fourth straight year with sales over $2.5 billion. It's been on the rise consistently for 40 years, lottery spokeswoman Judith Drucker said. Of course, having record-breaking, historic Mega Millions jackpots doesn't ever hurt. Quad-zeros pay off big bucks for Pick 4 players The Kentucky Lottery may have hit a streak of bad luck in November, which means good luck for lottery players in the state. But many players found that tickets were sold out on combinations with all 1's when they went to purchase a ticket. To ensure every winner gets paid, lotteries with fixed payouts cap sales of certain number combinations. In New York, for examp

Tri-State lottery players get extra chance to win Pick 4
Players of the Tri-State Pick 4 lottery had two chances to win this week when a ball left in the drawing machine led to two sets of winning numbers. Lottery officials said they discovered that a ball was inadvertently left in the chute of the drawing machine before Tuesday's evening winning numbers were drawn, so the number wasn't included in the drawing. Officials decided to hold another drawing Wednesday and pay out on both sets of Pick 4 numbers for the Tuesday evening draw. The two

Hopefuls mill about the Welsh Farms store on Court Street, thumbing through small pieces of paper inscribed with names like Pick 3, Pick 4 and Jersey Cash 5. Some stand against the brick wall outside, feverishly scraping quarters crusted with silver dust across instant-win scratch-off games
