N.J. Lottery to end live broadcast of midday drawing
Is $100,000 in cost-savings worth the loss of midday drawing broadcasts? Beginning Friday, the New Jersey Lottery Commission will stop airing live drawings at 1 p.m. on the state's public television network in an effort to save money. Only summaries of the results of the Pick 3 and Pick 4 lotteries will be shown on New Jersey Network at 1 p.m., the state Lottery Commission said today. Maryland Lottery changing broadcast network
The Maryland Lottery drawings will have a new home next month. The state Board of Public Works today is expected to award WBAL TV a four year, $10 million broadcasting contract to televise the drawings. The Maryland Lottery has been on WJZ TV for the last 12 years. WBAL TV will get about $2.5 million a year to show the drawings, up from the $1.4 million the state currently pays. Western North Carolina lottery players may have to turn to a South Carolina television station to watch Powerball drawings.
