Georgia court awards Alabama man $1 million lottery win
This is the tale of a ticket a lottery ticket, that is. It began on a February day in 2013 and it ended last week in an Atlanta courtroom, leaving an Alabama man $1 million richer.
Gadsden attorneys Jack Floyd and John Floyd represented Attalla retiree Larry Payne when a Gadsden woman claimed a winning lottery ticket belonged to her. Jack Floyd recounted details of the case.

Lottery winner gets 21 years for financing drug trafficking operation
Ronnie Music Jr., a Waycross, Georgia man who sank part of $3 million in lottery winnings into methamphetamine trafficking, will spend the next 21 years in prison on drug conspiracy and firearms charges.
Last July, the 46-year-old Music admitted his involvement in multi-state drug trafficking, including a ring being run from a Georgia prison that he fronted with lottery winnings. He also pleaded guilty to being a convicted felon in possession of firearms.

Judge rules whistleblower suit against Georgia Lottery can go forward
A whistleblower lawsuit claiming a Georgia Lottery executive was fired after refusing to support inflated sales projections should go to trial, a Fulton County Superior Court judge decided this week.

Georgia Lottery to add extra Cash 3, Cash 4 drawings

Georgia Lottery daily numbers games players will get extra opportunities to play every day starting Sunday.
Beginning on Feb. 12, the Georgia Lottery is adding an additional Cash 3 drawing late at night, and an extra Cash 4 drawing in the early evening. The new drawings mean that a total of three Cash 3 and Cash 4 drawings will be held every day, at the same times.

Woman finds $100,000 lottery ticket while cleaning
South Carolina Lottery officials say a Georgia woman found a winning Powerball ticket in a stack of old tickets.
The discovery was made while cleaning. The winning ticket was purchased last September in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Officials said in a news release that the woman was visiting family in the Upstate when she bought the winning ticket at Mit Food Mart on West Georgia Road.

It took some time, but the winners of an $83 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot have stepped up and claimed their prize using a legal framework to avoid revealing their identities.

Georgia Gov. to support casino bill if lottery not impacted
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal said Tuesday he won't oppose legislation that would legalize casino gambling as long as it doesn't devastate the state's popular lottery-funded HOPE scholarship program.

Christina Ford of Dallas, Georgia, came forward Tuesday as the winner of Georgia's unclaimed $7,500,000 Mega Millions prize. She was one of two winners to split a $15 million jackpot July 22.

Georgia Lottery looking for $7.5M Mega Millions winner
Georgia Lottery officials are trying to solve the case of the missing millionaire. Half of a $15 million jackpot won in Georgia remains unclaimed.
The outstanding ticket, worth approximately $7.5 million, is one of two that split the July 22 Mega Millions jackpot prize.
Kroger #0634, located at 8876 Dallas Acworth Highway in Dallas, sold the lucky ticket. The second ticket that shared the jackpot prize was purchased in Virginia.
