Alabama gambling council hears from state lottery executives
The president of Louisiana's lottery said Alabama should be careful in how it drafts lottery legislation and cautioned against defining the game too narrowly.
Louisiana Lottery President Rose Hudson and New Hampshire Lottery Executive Director Charlie McIntyre spoke to Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley's advisory council on gaming yesterday.
Both states have long-established lotteries that provide money for public education.

$50M Powerball jackpot to be split 3 ways
Three lucky winners will be able to spend the holiday weekend as newly-minted millionaires.
The owners of three winning Powerball tickets from Delaware, Florida, and Louisiana will divvy up Saturday's $50 million jackpot three ways.
Each winner will have the option of receiving a third of the jackpot in 30 payments over 29 years or a third of the $31.1 million lump sum. The winning Powerball tickets were purchased in New Orleans, Tampa, and a currently unnamed location in Delaware.

Woman digs $10,000 Powerball lottery ticket out of trash
A 41-year-old woman from Greensburg, Louisiana, says she initially threw away a Powerball ticket for the March 23 drawing, but dug it out of the trash when she realized she hadn't checked the numbers.
It's a good thing she did. The ticket was worth $10,000.

Louisiana Lottery may add Mega Millions next year
With the price of a Powerball ticket slated to increase from $1 to $2 starting next year, state lottery officials are betting that adding a second multi-state jackpot game will help draw in additional revenue. The game, Mega Millions, is offered in 41 states, plus the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.

Louisiana Lottery creates millionaire in raffle draw

The Louisiana Lottery's finale drawing for its newest $10 raffle game, Millionaire Bonus Raffle, was held Thursday morning, creating one freshly-minted millionaire and several winners of $20,000.
Raffle number 021159 was randomly selected as the $1 million winner from the 275,052 tickets that were sold.
