Human beings go through some awful acrobatics trying to generate random numbers.  It's not entirely clear they're able to succeed with the best of equipment.  I don't know much about the pick 3/4 numbers, but 5s, 6s and 7 number draws don't give the appearance of being random.  Not to suggest they aren't honest attempts.  Not even to suggest that they're predictable with our current level of knowledge, but all those repeats, hot numbers, strange combinations seem to me to be anything but random.

I had posted the thread link in an attempt to avoid redundancy, but you came up with some interesting responses. JKING, I'm assuming the numbers you posted are from a 6/49 lottery? In another forum, the delta method was proposed, and a member came up with the number of possibilities of each delta in that draw. A delta of 5 had 44 possibilities in that draw, and a delta of 40 would give you over 700,000 possibilities (I'm doing this from memory rather than going back and looking at the post). Anyway, if you have a 6/49 lottery, the maximum delta is 48, where the low number is 1 and the high number is 49. There are about 180,000 possibilities there. But rather than run all this through programs, think of it this way - the remaining 4 numbers can range from 2 to 48 and will give you the same number of possibilities that there are in a 4/47 lottery matrix. A delta of 47 will leave you with the same number of possibilities for each starting number that there are in a 4/46 lottery matrix, so you can look at those possibilities and multiply that number by 2 to find the total possibilities in a 6/49 lottery with delta 47, since your low/high numbers will either be 1/48 or 2/49. This holds true for any delta in any lottery.

RJOh, I've never seen that tracking method before. Very nice. And easy for anyone to interpret.

I made an initial pass at an indexing method by first finding the games each lottery number occurred in, then finding the delta/difference between them. I'm not seeing any patterns that would be useful with any certainty. Even sums of the delta don't pan out.

So, as I thought, indexing as proposed in earlier posts does'nt really work. Maybe I'll try the indexing method to occurrences and see if there is any patternes there.
