Lottery mania is spreading across the United States as the Mega Millions lottery reaches a jackpot of $205 million.
According to the New Jersey Lottery, retailers across the state were selling over $2,300 of Mega Millions tickets per minute leading up to last night's drawing.
None of the tickets sold for Tuesday's $168 million drawing matched all five lotto numbers and the Mega Ball. The next drawing will be Friday.
There were 17 second-prize winners: 2 from Georgia, 1 from Illinois, 4 from New Jersey, 4 from New York, 1 from Ohio, 3 from Texas, 1 from Virginia, and 1 from Washington. Each ticket matched all five lotto numbers but not the Mega Ball number to win $175,000.
Also, 77 players matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $5,000.
The winning numbers from Tuesday's drawing were five, six, 14, 42, and 47. The Mega Ball number was three.
The Texas Megaplier was 3.
"People are coming in constantly and lining up," said Paul Ghai, the manager of Hudson News in Newark, New Jersey. The lottery machine is busiest during rush hour, as people commute to and from work, he said.
JSQ Convenience on Kennedy Boulevard sold over 800 tickets in just two days. Mohamed Khair, a worker at the store, said he even bought one for himself.
"I'd keep 10 percent for myself and 90 percent to charity," Khair said. "If you have more than this, you'll spoil yourself and ruin your family."
Jersey City resident James Williams, a retired Conrail worker, had similar intentions. "I would give some to my family and to my church," he said.
this guy is kidding himself...once he realizes how much 90 percent of 205 million dollars is. once he sees all that money in his bank account he'll change his tune.
Lotterymania has hit the office where I work. I run some regular pools with around 14 members that play every drawing. Now that the jackpot is huge, that number has swelled to more than 50. As I walk thru the office today people are begging me to take their money and let them in the pool - and I will!!! I like looking through lots of tickets searching for that 1 in a million... correction... 1 in 135 million chance at the big money!
90% to charity? Yeah okay. If I won this would not ruin my family. I would give them what I wanted and be done!!! The cousins, aunts, and uncles will have to keep their jobs and hire a PI to find me because I would disappear.
I'd give to people in my city that are in need, maybe buy some homes for some friends I know that need homes. I wouldn't trust some charity with my money.
Lotto mania has hit the state of Illinois with Mega Millions up to 205 million and our state lotto is up 36 million which is the highest it has been in the last 3 years that I know of. Please let me win something tonight when we draw for the 36 million....

I don't know what I'd do with the money. I'd probably donate some to the National Youth Rights Association, buy a Ferrari, an Amphibious RV, and I'd start up my production company.
I live in Southern NJ and i am getting tired of most of the lottery winners coming from North NJ. i can't remember the last time a big winner came from the southern region.
I really wonder if Khair, the store owner would truly keep to his word if he really one.
It's easy to say before you have won.
Of course $ 20 million is nothing to shrug off if that's enough for him.
He can survive for a long time on that amount too.

"Charity begins at home,I'd give it all to my favorite charity" RJOh said.
Charities just waste money.
Most of the money you give them is eaten up by the bureaucray, with little left to help the actual people in need.
TNPAL,
sounds like you have a nice family.
I saw an article at The Jersey Journal. $2,300 a minute... WOW!
I'd give to people in my city that are in need, maybe buy some homes for some friends I know that need homes. I wouldn't trust some charity with my money.
mm:
As long as you don't try to rebuild Detroit.
The charity I would give to is the whole city of Detriot.

I think I need a big raise friday night about 205 million
I don't know what I'd do with the money. I'd probably donate some to the National Youth Rights Association, buy a Ferrari, an Amphibious RV, and I'd start up my production company.
