Ryanm, I think for some and me 3 million is enough to retire on if you win that by yourself, but if it's split by 44 people or so I don't see that happening. lol.

$36 million is pocket change!!?  Yeah, maybe to some greedy CEO's who get severance pay equal to that of the average Powerball or Mega Millions jackpot but still can't retire because they develop lifestyles where they can't live off that much money their whole lives while the rest of us will never see that much money in our whole lives!!

exactly. gotta keep it in perspective. that's 3 million more that you didn't have the night before.  and i like how sirbrad also broke it down, 10,000 a month.  if you can't survive off that, you're gonna screw up worse when the number has even more zeros behind it.

I don't think the $36 million has still even been claimed!

MO starts the 60-day clock (cash or annuity) with the drawing. That deadline is fast approaching!

if not claimed i think lottery turns it back in to special promotions, like if you buy 5 bucks, you could win a 100-500 dollar bonus, but this is hard to win and generates more sales!

Actually, the states get back all the money they contributed to the jackpot.  It is up to the individual state lotteries to decide what they want to do with their shares.
