I drive about an hour and twenty minutes to Sturgis, MI to get my MegaMillions tickets. I only go when the jackpot reaches eighty million or more. Hopefully, I'll be making that trip again pretty soon; I still have a few winners I need to cash in. Nothing major, but it's probably enough to pay for my gas up there and back.
My friends and family also question the wisdom in making such a trip. "Why don't you just put that money into PowerBall tickets, and keep the money in the state of Indiana?" My response is always the same. "First of all, because the PowerBall jackpot isn't as high as MegaMillions and, secondly, screw the state of Indiana."

Whats wrong with the state of Indiana? I was born in Indianapolis. I get my tickets at South Bend right when you hit Indiana.

It's just a half-hour to the New Jersey border, but I don't have a car so my dad has to drive me. And well, he has some kind of aversion to the Garden State.

No lottery here in Alabama, so I've got no choice but to drive. Both the Georgia and Tennessee states lines are a little less than two hours drive from where I live, with Georgia being a little closer. Florida is about 4 hours away, so I don't make it there very often.
Over the past three months I've been to Georgia 5 times and and to Tennessee 3 times.

We live in a Mega Milliobns state bordering two Powerball States. If we happen to be in one we play Powerball, but have never made the trip just to play Powerball.

Never travel to buy tickets. If I lived further north, I'd probably drive to GA to buy a MM ticket once in a while, but in GA you can only purchase advanced plays for 10 draws (5 weeks) unless it's changed since I last checked. Not really worth the trip. FL is a very long state and I live on the SW Coast, so I don't bother since it would be about 6 hours, which is crazy. I'd be spending over $75 in gas roundtrip. Most of the time I buy my tickets locally, within a couple of miles.

There is no need to jump borders or drive anywhere to buy lottery tickets. The Massachusetts lottery offers a subscription service you can use from the privacy of your own home. There are no residency requirements, you can live in Hawaii and play the Massachusetts lottery games. You can order your subscription by telephone, they have a toll free number. They send the subscription by UPS, so they charge $4 for that, they can't send them by the postal service.

kool goldrush...I live here in CT...Mass. is about 45 mins away. I have never played MM but, was thinking of trying it this year since I'm only a state away. I do go to NY and NJ to play when I'm in the area. I drive for 5 hours every year to MD just to get Fireworks so driving for a lottery ticket to become a milionaire in a lottery my state doesn't offer is worth it to me.
I think I have a better chance of winning playing in another state then the one I live in...LOL
I have won in NY & NJ and last year when I was in MD I won 100 bucks on a scratch off and hit a straight with bonus they were running on the play 3...I still have to turn that ticket in but, I won't be going there again till April..on my yearly trip....

Is that winning ticket a pick3 for Maryland, because if it is you must claim the prize within 182 days of the drawing.

I've never travelled to get tickets since we have a lottery here, but if I lived closer to the Texas border, I'd probably go over when MegaMillions gets up there.

Back in the fall time when Powerball was up to $300,000,000 I drove from my town in Michigan to the Wisconsin boarder to buy Powerball tickets. It was actually quite nice though because it was the time of year when the leaves were changing so it wasn't bad at all. I ended up doing it twice for both drawings that were over $300m. It it about a 2 hour trip one-way so it isn't a small jaunt.
