That's why the only fair taxation is at the point of purchase. If you won a million dollars you would spend that million dollars and be taxed on it as you spent it. This write-off system on production taxes only benefits the big money in this country and hurts the other 99%. Wouldn't it be nice to see a corporate executive buy a million dollar home and actually have to pay taxes for the first time in his life?

...and speaking of Big Brother, our country has reached a new low at eroding our civil liberties with its monitoring of all of our phone calls. The Patriot Act has single-handedly put our country back 230 years. We are less a free country than the countries we are trying to "free".

I would also urge all the sheep in this country to get out of the way and let the true Americans who love their freedom change the direction Big Bother is leading us. Write your congressmen today. Enough is enough. If we let this fear-mongering to control our thinking and way of life you will have a camera in your bedrooms while trying to start a family or in your bathrooms while you're taking a ............ shower.        Mad

Rick, I agree that we should have a federal sales tax rather than an income tax.

The government did not "monitor all of our phone calls"!  They collected data on what phone numbers were called and from where.  I don't agree with the government doing that either, but they did not monitor millions of calls.

Collecting data on every one of our phone calls constitutes "monitoring our phone calls". They say they are not listening. The only reason they are not "listening" to every single conversation is that they don't have the data mining software that advanced yet. It is the next logical step in this intrusion. There are private rooms situated in switching centers where domestic-domestic phone calls ARE being listened to and this comes from a whistle blower who helped with the implementation in one location. We have not heard the true scope of this wire tapping fiasco yet.

And secondly, if I call Florida to talk to my brother and the call lasts 33 minutes and I call him two days later and it lasts 12 minutes, and I call him 13 days in a row with one-minute calls, what in the world's business is it of the federal government??? The American people are not the terrorists.

Instead of wasting these resources, why don't they get out there and find these sons of bitches who committed 9/11? 5 years after the fact and the main perpetrator is still taunting us with hate videos. This is bull .

The fascist American oligarcy has always cursed the day the Internet made it to the public domain.  They lost some control over the wage slaves.  This is an attempt to take some of that control back.

Yes NodI saw a documentary called "Somebody's Listening" on the history channel and WOW, you will be surprised.  It gave true historical facts on wire taping and bugs and the laws surrounding them.  Hoover listened to what everybody did.

Now there are companies that specialize in debugging conference rooms and very important meeting when big stuff is going down.  Think about when competitors can hear what the others are planning.  Some companies won't hold a meeting until it is debugged.

It's against the law to bug a phone.  Of course the government can do it.  But strict laws are not in place for voyeurism and bugs.  People set up cams in their homes for people to see every thing they do.

Well they have done this with Cigarette sells online so I would not be surprised when it happens to Online Gambling.

For years the government complained about lost tax monies on online cigarette sells. People were forced to go online because some states raised the cigarette tax so high that smokers could not afford to pay for them and with any addiction a smoker will do what they have to do to get their cigarettes and thus online cigarette sells skyrocketed and of course the government was not amused!

So what did they do recently to stop the sells? Not only did they go after the cigarette companies selling on line, they sent letters to customers stating they owned taxes from their online purchase! And how did they get the customer information that they were buying on line? Easy they threatened the cig companies and they handed over the customer's information! Cigarette smokers were treated like common criminals too!

The next step in it all to stop online cigarette sells was the government passing a law that all credit card companies were no longer able to process any type of cigarette purchases! So again you cannot use a credit card to purchase cigarettes online any longer. Then UPS united parcel service decides it will no longer deliver cigarette purchases to customers! Who do you think was behind that? You guessed it ....The government!

I did not mater how many letters were sent to congressmen either fighting for your right to be able to purchase cigarettes online or anything else online for that matter because millions of letters were sent and they still stopped sales! Well not stopped but put a big dent in it, people can still order with a money order or check! I cannot believe the government can tell us what we can and can not purchase with our credit cards! I'm waiting for the wall to be built in the next step! Day by day little by little I see such things happen!

So again it would not surprise me one bit if the government stopped all online gambling purchases made by using a credit card!

It all comes down to lost tax money and the government does not take that too kindly! So if they want to do something about it they can and will.

                Blessings!

Don't they have better things to do like seal off the border? Instead they wanna throw people in prison for playing the lottery in their own homes?  What a dumb idea!  They won't hunt down illegal immigrants and send them home.  But they will hunt down US born citizens for playing lottery on the internet in the privacy of their own homes?

Immigrants dont have any money.  why bother with them?

Uncle Sam's been trying to mussel in one the action ever since they found out about it. Some of these sites will exist no matter what uncle does. In order for uncle to stop it they pretty much would have to take control of the Internet, or penalize all banking transactions which are connected to it. Many things uncle might try to stop Internet gambling is going to meet with heavy opposition.

As of now I wouldn't let it bother me until something happens. Which will probably take years?

                      A lil thread drift here:

Uncle is also trying to get a piece of ebay he want's his cut from that to. In fact he want's his cut from anything the people make money off of.

If its already illegal then people who already won and had money placed in their bank accounts could still be arrested in the future at some date.  And even if a person reports their winnings for tax purposes, wouldnt that be like admitting that you broke the law by even playing the online casino lotteries?  That would be like turning yourself in for breaking the law.  They might round everybody up later I'm sure they keep tabs.  All I wanna know is how much time do we have left before its over, a month a year or what?

Just because there are millions of illegal immigrants doesn't mean that law enforcement can't round up as many as they can get.  Millions of Americans smoke pot and law enforcement doesn't look the other way, they arrest them and throw them in jail.  Why would they just let illegals go with a nod and a wink?

Bush is pushing for amnesty and citizenship for all the illegals because he realizes rounding them up is impossible now. As I said, they (the govt) doesn't have the manpower/financial resources to do so. Can not be done, so the next best thing is make them all citizens and guarantee that they pay taxes. Govt wants revenue above all other things.

The govt just isn't as powerful and all-emcompassing as they want everyone to believe. For years, people were scared of FEMA -- conmspiracy theorists were afraid if FEMA ever went into action, it would take over the country via Martial Law. So along comes Katrina....and FEMA couldn't even get out of its own way. And they still can't.

As to illegalities of online gaming, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
