What is going on....we haven't seen a jackpot over $100 million in forever.

This winner better not be from California.

New York has been way overdue.

well it looks like it was sold in Ohio.

I guess it is the California and Ohio game.  They should rename it to Calihio Millions

It seems no other state wins.  haha

Bradly_60, that's the 5th jackpot winner of under 100 million this year in MM. Actually, Texas won a MM Jackpot this year of 94 million. Otherwise, it's the California and Ohio game.

I'm guessing that people in Cali and Ohio tend to purchase more tickets. Is there anyone who knows how to find that ticket info?

            congrat to the winner.

but wow ohio and cali are taking it all. i can see cali with alot of winners because of the population, but why ohio it's a small state. guess when the machines is picking winners tickets sales don't matter. ovarall i see it hurting ticket sales in our states.

All my tickets are winners, atleast until the draw proves me wrong.

Ohio doesn't even sell that many tickets compared to the rest of the states in MM.

California does sell more....usually they sell the second most behind NY.

The three largest selling states in the last MM draw were as follows:

                    NY: 2.48M

                    CA: 2.46M

                    NJ: 1.42M

Ohio was 4th at  1.26 M.  Rounding out the top 5 was IL at 1.44M.

                      /mm03sales.htm

It is interesting that a substantial number of people still are buying MM tickets in CA and NY since they have better in state options.  If I lived in either state, I wouldn't buy MM tickets.

The last time MM was over 100M was in April.

That's just how it works.  It is almost certain that the jackpot will go over $100M again.  It's almost even odds, slightly less, right now that it will on this run.

Of course people buy tickets for jackpots less than $100M, and the fact that they do so depends on their belief that they can win.  I certainly wouldn't complain about winning a jackpot with a $13M cash prize.

NY Lotto is NOT a "better" in-state option. California SLP is.

Thank you Raven62 and Prob988! Interesting. You'd think New Jersey and New York would have many winners also. It may just have to do with luck, that Ohio has so many more winners

It looks like Mega Millions is going through a low jackpot run like powerball had with all those low winners.  I hope they do not panic and change the matrix again.-weshar75
