is it due to poor responsibilty on the governors part or is it just something they had no control over?

It ought to make for a good poll to allow for the politicians to find out how strongly NJ players support the lottery and want it continued:

        • VERY STRONG - Hanging upside down from a lamp post outside the state house with the other legislators and the Guv.
        • MODERATELY STRONG - Tires slit, windows broken out, State Legislature burned out of hiding
        • NEUTRAL - Lottery dies briefly, but after four days rises from the dead and assumes its rightful place in the hearts and minds of Neu Joysians.
        • WEAK - Anything good on TV?

Absorb the good, ignore the bad, weigh the ugly.

        It's about number behavior.

        Egos don't count.

The state legislature must agree on a budget.  It is not just the "governor".  This has happened in TN before, too.  So it is nothing new.  They need to agree on the next years fiscal budget and it appears that no one is agreeing yet.

If you know your number is going to hit, have patience and then KILL IT!

You never know when you will get another hit.

I wonder if New Jersey's budget impasse will cause the state to stop collecting other forms of taxes too, some people consider lotteries as a volunteer tax since many states contribute half of sales to themselves.  If the lottery can't support itself then it's not fair that non-players taxes be used to support it.

This is procedural, largely proforma and temporaray. The Guv has shut down the guvernment as he is required to do by law. If they cannot pass a state budget. This will be corrected very soon.

Hey, Tommy, this is Guido, just 'cause da state is closin down the lotto doesn't mean ya can't keep playin, just like de old days - play wid 'us and it's cold hard cash, no taxes. Don't forget if ya hit with a middle digit of 1 it pays $450 and not $500.

You think maybe this could be part of the reason Mega Millions increased by only $2 million for Tuesday?
