I agree DD. I don't think he was the type to leave when his feelings got hurt. I just think he decided he was done an moved on.

i'm sure he had had reasons but their might be another reason. this is the last thread he posted to re read it and figure it out for yourself.

that's the one - we didn't see chewie after that.

I voted  "he won the jackpot" 'cause that's what I wish for him.

You know LottoMike, he was one of my favorite posters.  He was quite funny and thought provoking, though quite a few misunderstood his satire.

What triggered this thread about him?

      Jack, that was a compliment.

Jack is nothing like Chewie.  Chewie was irreverent and mocked people and he could often be mean-spirited. (although I enjoyed his posts) Jack is controversial and welcomes opposing views.  Big difference.

At least that's my personal observation.

          Rick and whomever.... csfb, particularly:

Dead or alive, I wish old Chewie the best.  That's true, even though I kept his posts blocked from view for at least half my tenure on LP.

Which is entirely different from being thought (by anyone with an opinion I have any respect for ---- a handfull of members including you, csfb ---) to 'remind' anyone of him.

When most of the people on this board spew a bit of venom I recognize it for what it is and treat it as that - venom, and a statement about the person who made the post, as opposed to anything about myself worth thinking about.

But when a statement such as the one you posted, ssfb, comes from that scattering of people I believe to be worthy of pondering (of which group you are a member),

          • I have to first ask myself whether venom was intended (which I believe it wasn't),
          • and then ask myself whether, since no venom was intended, I'm doing something here I don't want to do,
          • behaving in a way I don't want to behave,
          • being percieved in a way I have no intention of being percieved.

I'm still thinking about that last part.  Once I've had a bit of time to reflect on it I might decide there are actually some changes I need to make in the way I interact here.

As for the folks who've posted here who are on my block list (I see there are several), I'm assuming you've snatched another opportunity to do what you do best.  While I haven't read your posts, I'm guessing they involved, neither praise and well-wishing for Chewie, nor anything akin to that for me, including neutrality.

Which is fine, and which is precisely why you are on my Block list.  If I've assumed wrongly, or if I do you an injustice, I apologize.

Weird thread.  A sort of kaleidoscope of LP personalities, faiths, opinions and grudges exploding and imploding six pages of posts.

Old chewie gave himself a worthy send off party, if that's what it was.

I believe Chewie let antagonists get his dander up too much in that thread so chose to go on vacation awhile.

I appreciated Chewie's dry humor, his wisdom, liked him as a poster and hope his absence is due to hitting the mother lode and disappearing like he said he would.

              Good luck to everyone!

I always have wondered what happened to Chewie.  I know he rubbed some people the wrong way, but I must say that he had some of the sharpest wit I have seen here.  Chewie, if you're reading this, let us know you're still there!  I would love to hear what you have to say about the New Jersey lottery/government shutdown.

He didn't strike me as the kind who would be driven off or stop posting because he and some others didn't agree on some things. Nobody won a nice jackpot in NJ or PA around the time he disappeared, but even if they had I figure it would still be far more likely that his disappearance was because there is no internet where he is now. Unlike us mere readers you could always check your logs to see if an IP that's likely to be him turned up after his last post in the referenced thread.
