We have a friend who absolutely can not "not be in on a jackpot" drawing.

Illinois is MM so he plays that, if the PB jackpot is up he asks everybody he meets in the course of a day if they're going to Missouri.

If he does get PB tickets he doesn't get exteneded play.

Here's the zinger- he never checks his tickets.

We've given him the 800 number for results, he gets the paper every day, which has the lotto results in it for three states, but he never checks his tickets.

Make sense to anybody?

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

Long distance opinion: couple possibilities, nottoobrightism, bi-polarism, or AADD (adult attention deficit disorder). I know a several individuals that cannot focus on any activity that requires attention or follow-thru for more than several minutes, they range in age from 11-54 years.

If he has to be in the action from what you describe then he could be a gambling addict. My guess is he might be aware if someone won the jackpot and in what state. I usually don't check my tickets if I know I didn't win the jackpot. I don't buy tickets unless the jackpot is very high though and would know if I won the first or second prize in either MM or PB. Smaller prizes just make it cheaper to play.

Just like Hearsetrax said, why do people do anything?

Take the example of the cereal brand.."Grape Nuts"...No grapes and no nuts....

I would've loved to be a fly in that think tank room when the majority voted what to call the cereal.

People do things all the time that make no sense, like, why is there braille at an ATM drive-thru?

Why do they rub alcohol on the spot where they administer lethal injection?

Why do banks leave the vault wide open, but chain the ink pens to the counter?

I had a roommate in New York who bought diet coke because regular coke was too sweet for him. But he would eat a pint of vanilla fudge Haagen Dazs everyday. What?

And lastly...why are there signs out on the roadways that say.."Slippery when wet"? That's like saying.." Dark when night".

This makes me think about all those unclaimed lottery winning tickets. I agree with Justxploring, break in, I'm sure there are winning jackpot tickets there, lmaoooooo.

I love doubles and remember, it's just a game!!!!!!

"People do things all the time that make no sense, like, why is there braille at an ATM drive-thru?"

I actually know the answer to this one. It's because they mass produce the keypads and instead of mmaking special non-braille ones for use at ATMs they just send the standard ones to all users.

My favorite "imponderable" has always been this gem:

Why did kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

It makes perfect sense to me. Your friend is what's known as a problem gambler.

Yeah, indeed. I've thought about that Floyd - one of the signs of compuslive gambling is having to be "in action" all the time.
