The UK National Lottery raises billion of pounds, perhaps the US could also raise billions with a "USNL"?

I'd like to see it, just sell the tickets at post offices or something similar.

Powerball was intended to be Lotto USA or at least was going to be called that, but we still have 9 or so states with no lottery at all.

I'd like to see some kind of national lotto with at least three drawings for the jackpot- the ticket costs $1 for the first drawing, and 50 cents more for each additional drawing.

The first drawing would get 75% of the jackpot, the second 15%, and the third 10%. The jackpot should start around $20,000,000 and progress.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

      Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

"What", all of you know just about "Anything & Everything" our Government runs always ends-up all messed up or run into the ground and costing the country money! Our Government couldn't make a "Profit"  if every man woman and child's life in this country depended on it! All of you people are freaking crazy for wanting our Government even remotely involved in a National Lottery!

            Barista Express,

Well, going bywhat myturn said in the OP it seems to work in the UK.

So, hire them to run it, or hire lottery people to run it.

Way back when gambling became legal in Nevada, where did they go to get the people to run the casinos? snelling & Snelling? Hardly. they went to places like Steubenville, Hot Springs, Saratoga, etc....

The only really big screw up in all this was when Delaware had its very short run with legalized sports betting. Instead of contacting linesmakers they had their own office people set the pointspreads. Didn't last long as people from Vegas were flying to Delaware just to take advantage of the false favorites.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

I Agree! Those thieves in Washington,D.C. would find a way to siphon off the profits and add a 120% tax on winners.

I sure as hell wouldn't take one of the US Govt annuities! But I would buy a national lottery ticket as easily as I buy mega millions or the state lotto47 - which is every draw above $2m.

I hope they NEVER have one.  It will just be a bigger pot for someone to steal and for us to bail out.

If you know your number is going to hit, have patience and then KILL IT!

You never know when you will get another hit.

Hey Coin Toss, I don't like where I'm at (Delaware) I'd rather be back in Las Vegas! I don't know what DE did back when. The Only place to gamble to me is Vegas! I've been to Atlantic City 3 times now and the people there have sucked each time! I mean the dealers from the crap tables to the 3 card poker tables to the 21 dealers all have nasty attitudes/demeanor.

I guess that's why when I lived in Vegas and went out and saw dealers who's name tag said their name and that they came from Atlantic City had the harder time with smiling and holding their tongues with the gamblers that may have said something to them about not being paid right by them! I mean if you could have seen the disgusted look on the dealers face, you'd know what I mean. Heck in AC they get away with a lot in how they talk to people, but not in Vegas, they have to kiss up to a point! I don't even like some of the other gamblers in AC, because of their rude and crude attitudes! So the bad attitudes/demeanors between the dealers and some of the other patrons makes my time in AC a bad experience!

I never once had a bad experience in all the years that I had been going to Las Vegas for a week long vacation at The Desert Inn when I still lived and worked in So. California. But then during my divorce I decided to move to Vegas in 1994 and lived there for 7 yrs and I still never once had a bad experience during that time in Las Vegas! And now I'm in DE and the rest is history.

Keep dreaming the impossible dream, it just may come true! Thumbs Up

Hey there Barista! I lived in Vegas, too (1977-1993) and was there when AC opened, and when we started getting an influx of dealers from AC. They wanted to come and see Vegas and work in it.

Definitley a different breed of cat. They had good hands and could get around a layout, and handle the big action, but had no personality whatsoever, and no clue of the "inner game." I remember one guy with one of the best pair of hands you ever saw, but absolutely no rapport with the players. His name was Rob and right away the crew nicknamed him "Robo Bob."

At the time, some jobs in Vegas were still table for table, yet when you asked AC dealers what the best noght they ever had was (toke wise) they actually didn't know what they were being asked, they had no concept of a "best night).

Instead of going home with a share of tokes every shift, they only knew the hourly toke rate system (which is now probably standard in Vegas). They got a paycheck for wages one week and a paycheck for tips the next. One of the bennies to dealing used to be "everyday was payday", you went home with something every night. That was before AC destroyed a lot of it.

I remember people from Philadelphia coming up to our table at the UP on Friday nights and asking them about coming to Vegas as opposed to AC and they always said, "Once is enough for AC. They make you feel like you just checked into a hotel in Russia."

Yeah, the Delaware sports beting fiasco was a very short lived affair, they got clobbered.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.
