Take5 (and the lottery in general) sure has a way with messing with your head.
During the last 16 months, I've played a fair amount of Take5. (Well, what I consider to be a "fair amount". I'm sure others wouldn't think it was much at all.) Lately I've wondered if I've ever bought a set of five numbers that had already won a jackpot. I know I can check to see if the numbers I've picked ever won a JP (prior to me actually buying the ticket) but I never bother to do that.
So have I ever played a set of numbers that previously won a JP? Probably not. To date, there have been 3,954 Take5 drawings. Assuming a duplicate set of five winning numbers has never been drawn, 3,954 sets of five winning numbers out of a possible 575,757 sets have been drawn. Therefore, 571,803 sets of five have never been drawn.
Worse yet, I've wondered if a set of five numbers I bought, won a JP on a date after I bought them. I keep a record of all the sets of numbers I've played since I started playing. (it even includes all the FP's I won) I've bought about a thousand dollars worth of Take5 since then. I know a way that I can find out if any one of those "about a thousand" sets of five won a JP after I played them......... but I dunno.......... How bad would you want to know??? Would you do it????
Consider this too. It's another reason not to buy QP's, but a player picking his own numbers can have it happen to them. Given all the millions of tickets sold, it's very possible that on multiple occasions, a duplicate set of a previous JP winner has been sold. It's doubtful that set of numbers could win a JP anytime soon.
