He won 315 million on Christmas day 2002. He walked away with a 114 million lump sum after taxes.

In the seven years since then he got divorced, lost both his granddaughter and her boyfriend to drug overdoses. He's been robbed multiple times; is currently being sued by a casino for bouncing 1.5 million worth of checks, and been the target of legal complaints. Then last July his daughter was found dead. He also claims to be broke.

He now says he wishes he'd torn up the ticket.

How does this happen?

Good, bad or otherwise. You'll maybe get lost in it, tied up in it a little bit, but if you work your way through that the real you shows up, I think. Maybe what's at your core deep down, maybe that comes out. Maybe that's what it's about." Mike Pace

I think he was an extremely nice and generous man who thought money could solve any problem. I was surprised that someone who was already relatively well off and owned a construction company didn't have a little more discipline and self-control. But sometimes the facade can hide a few cracks. You never know what's going on in someone's mind or in their personal life or what their demons are.

I was going to say stupidity...but who knows?

I think you have to be smart and use caution...for the life of me I don't get why some of these winners make just a public spectical of themselves when they win.

I also think you need a plan...most winners are shocked when they win like they didn't know they were buying a lottery ticket and some how magically they won...if you play, have a plan.

I agree, someone who was well off and owned a company should be disciplined and have self control...some people the money just goes to there head...look at some celebs.

If you have the blessing of winning millions of dollars & you lose it all...that is your fault and no one should feel sorry for you...wishing you never won the money makes you look more foolish.

For people who seem to have everything...they sure can act like idiots.

I  alway use Jack W in alot of my comparison posts,  but if i'm not mistaken his daughter had been severely  ill for  many years which is why Brandy spent most of her time with her grands.

In I Timothy chap 6, verse 10: "The love of money is the root of all evil".

There is a difference between money being the root of evil, and the love of money. Money in and of itself is not evil, it's letting the priorities get out of balance and letting the love of money dictate your life.

Personally, I fall into this trap myself, because like many, I have problems that money can erase, but I have to remind myself that playing the lottery is for entertainment, and not something to rely on. That's why I have cut back on how much I spend on the lottery.

Jack was a millionaire before he won the lottery as a successful business man one would think he had the wherefore all to handle his fortune. However he put himself under a spotlight when he came forward to claim his fortune in front of millions of people, he started a foundation kept living in his house had lines of people up and down the block begging for handouts had millions of letters asking for handouts. Was scorned by the pastors of his churches when he offered them money they refused. He bought property for himself and people. He built or had a church built that no one wanted to attend.

My guess is that his let down from his pastors led to him being careless with the money. He gave lots of it away. Then he began drinking and the downward spiral continued.

                It could happen to anyone.

                  How does this happen?

Winning a record jackpot, hanging out in strip clubs and letting it be known you have $600,000 cash in the trunk of your car is a good start.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

                  Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

All too often significant financial wealth takes an individual or family into chaos instead of happiness.

Unfortunately, many Lottery Winners are unprepared for wealth and they find themselves parted from their fortunes not too many years later.

All the practical real world advice will not help Lottery Winners change their results if they are psychologically unprepared for wealth.

but i dont understand he didn purposely won the lotto as to elicit the idea that he had a powerful system it was just luck that he won it...and i think the article said that he had: $50,000 in his trunk...

And that´s the USA imagine other countries....

but sorry to say it: Once you are that older almost nobody likes you and if you are older plus had a brain tumor is worse you got to pay women to sleep with you or relinquish and have group sex is terrible...

This just PROVES TO ME, that there are people out there who can win Powerball not matter what plays is just kept secret...It just proves to me that...

i dont care who they were waiting on that´s no coincidence...unless someone is taking to heart the movie: Final Destination...

i was looking Powerball and megamillions biggest jackpots on MSN and most of them were won by several people only withaker own was by himself...

There are people who believe that what plays on the lotto is destined by God and by you cheating you are playing with God´s plan/purpose and that somehow God punishes the people that cheat...

The Forex trades: 1.6 Trillion dollars EVERY day, that´s more than the GDP of the Carribbean Central America, COMBINED.
