I dont see very many PA posters buying $20 tickets on a consistant basis. the odds are the same as Florida pretty much. maybe thats why we dont see as many people posting big wins ?? Most winning FLA tics posted here are $20 tics. we have a lot of big $5 winners but most are $20 tics cause the odds are better

James. Over the past few months I been playing nothing but 20's and 10's. I throw in the occasional other value, but been focusing on the big tickets to no avail. I am sure mixing and matching doesn't help but I know if I buy 5 of the same one then lose, I will chase til there is no tomorrow. If I buy 1 each of 5 different bins, then i dont feel the need to chase if I lose on one. I know I will never profit unless I get the $5k+ win(even that wouldnt do it), but it would be nice to hit more often and of decent value. I wouldnt complain if I got a handful of $500's or $1k's, but my wins/losses have been documented. Took me 15 years to find something over $100 after my $500 win in 1995 and that was only a $200 win. Here in PA, you use to get $100+ on $1-$5 tickets regularly. Now it is scarce to find them on any ticket. Maybe Florida has more posters and heavier spenders but it does seem like you guys hit alot more than we do. DR65 has been hitting good of late, but it seems like the other PA guys here are struggling also.

As usual my plan to quit scratch offs until after the PB drawing failed. Went to get gas and couldn't help myself. Got a $5 50,000 Jackpot and it was ticket 004 so I decided to get the rest.

      Ticket 004- $5 win
      Ticket 003- loser
      Ticket 002- loser
      Ticket 001- $5 win
      Ticket 000- $5 win

Ticket 000 had one single winning moneybag symbol with no matching numbers> hoped it would be a nice winner but it was only $5. $10 loss. It's alright though, I've had much worse.
Going to redeem tomorrow for a $10 ticket at the liquor store and pocket the rest and then I'm done.

Good luck everyone and congrats to the recent winners!

WTG Stormiela!! I know what you mean about the symbols, there oughta be a law against using them for

anything less than 10x ticket cost....well,  even 5x ticket cost would be okay too. Big Smile

Many times I've been happy to see a symbol only to find they took the air out of the sails and paid a

stinky prize of exactly what you paid for the ticket....grrrr. But a win is a win and it's nice to see 3 winners

in a stretch of 5 tickets.

        Good luck today!

I don't know what the trick is in PA but I do know that for the past few months it's exactly what omiller

described. The wins on just $5's used to be so much better. It wasn't impossible to do well on $5

tickets...$20's, $50's and $100's were almost common...now that common has been replaced with

          $0's and $5's.

20x the Money tickets give $5 wins all the time...it's hard to find anything better than that. $5 Big Money

tickets are no better. And these are the ones that were supposed to have been restocked with winners

because of their popularity. I've seen many people happy with a free ticket or a dollar or a $5 win on a

$5 ticket. If you look at in terms of strictly 'live to play another day/game' then ok, I guess that's alright.

But what about the claims of xx top prizes, win up to 12 times and xxxx prizes of xxxx or the claim of:

over $xxx million in prizes!! ???? Isn't anyone looking for those? I am and have to be honest and say,

while it's good to win $100 and better to win $500, I'm wondering where those BIGGER prizes are. I've

been playing for years also and the most I've won on one ticket is $5,000 on the instant games.

          There were tons of $100's, $200's and enough $400's, $500's and $1,000's so I can't complain but I'd

like to find a real good one more often.

Take the poster skeptic for example....btw, don't know where he went but anyway...there were so many

tickets posted of wins of $500 and $1,000 it was incredible. Now is that area or volume? I don't know.

Like James said...something to the effect of: winning good ones are nice but where are the big ones?

That's why we all play, to win. And the more you can win the better time you have doing it. I don't think

there will be a day I ever quit, it's fun for me. I guess what seriously has to be weighed is whether you're

having fun doing it or if it's just time to quit for good. If you're just feeding money into the pot and not

winning and don't feel good about playing maybe another game - a lesser ticket amount - would justify

playing. If you play $20 and constantly lose, maybe $2's are better. Maybe daily number games are

better...for $20 you get a lot more chances of winning something than with 1 $20 ticket.

You have to make the decision to be in or out and consider if totally quitting is the best option. Maybe

your area will never be good...who knows? Maybe your luck will never change or maybe it will take the

next 10 years for it to happen. I think if you don't have a good reason to play...(and just playing for a

top prize isn't good enough reason...it really ISN'T) then your chances might be better somewhere else.

James, I buy (USED to buy until I lost $300 with one $20 winner in the bunch yesterday) nothing but $20 tickets. The difference in the PA tickets and the FL tickets, for instance the FL $20 GRT ticket that so many people have hit for $500 is this.

The FL ticket is printed "Over $160,000,000 in prizes from $30 to $10,000." 160 MILLION !

Probably going to be a few $500 winners in there since that amount is not that big compared to the $10,000 prize.

In Pa, our new hot $20 ticket is marked, "15 top prizes of $250,000 and over $86,000,000 in cash prizes." 86 MILLION !

If we had a few more zeros added to the amount we could win we would probably do a little better.

OK, a few more zeros would be too much to ask. How about just a 1 in front of that 86 million?

Well Said dr65..I too have been playing for years and I used to enjoy it , now you do feel like you are struggling..they definatley changed something..because the $5 tickets really do stink anymore.  They took the fun out of them. I do play some, but nowhere near as much as I used to.

I noticed on the PA lottery winners circle for instant games..1 guy won 3 top prizes on tickets in 4 years..in Jan of 2008 he won $250 thousand, in May of 2009 he won $250 thousand,,,now in Jan of 2012 he won the top prize of $17,000 on a $2 leprachaun Loot ticket.

He either has the best luck..or he knows exactly where to find the top prizes..which makes you wonder if they send the top prizes to the same places all the time..they say they don't know where they are going..but I don't believe that for a second..

I've been playing for years and the most I've won is $500 a couple of times..I've never won $1000 yet..and some people on here never even won $500 yet...so it almost seems like the bigger tickets go to the same areas?  Maybe I'm wrong but it just seems that way..

Thanks everyone for the congrats. I have a quick question and this may be the wrong thread for it.

All prizes over $600 have to be claimed at a district office, but the nearest one to me is 3.5hrs each way, plus they are only open when I work, and I'd rather not miss work plus put in gas to claim the ticket since that will severely eat into my winnings.

Does anyone have experience mailing in a winning ticket? I'm thinking Fedex/UPS with a declared value of $1000, direct signature confirmation, etc.

I know in pa, that you can cash tickets up to $2,500 at most of the retailers that sell them. You still need to file a claim form but

you leave with the cash if the have it available. Try going to a supermarket to cash that ticket they usually have enough on hand to pay

out a $1,000 winner. Hope that helps. Nice win!

Ive never mailed a ticket in. Fortunately I have a district office about 20 min from me.  I can only imagine that it would take a while for them to process it though. Sux the closest is 3.5 hrs away. Im assumng you are referring to the Miami office?

I know you can print the claim form out online and then mail it along with the ticket. Good luck with whatever you decide

Unfortunately in Florida the retailers only cash $600 or less in store, between $600 and $250,000 you have to go to a district office or the main headquarters.

Yeah B$Rizzle, the Miami office, living in the Keys has its ups and downs. I'm leaning towards mailing now.
