Interesting. Now I don't know what game to play. The likelihood of releasing another $5M prize this year in 100X is slim given they will probably want to milk the game out for at least another 12-15 months before reordering it. And Gold Rush is starting to get thin on $3M prizes. No telling on when FF will release another. Almost seems likely that $20 Monopoly $3M winner has got to be coming soon.
We took a trip to Cedar Key today to take some pics. Stopped at the only 3 lottery vendors in the 20+ mile radius. The first, a Chevron Island Jiffy sold a $3M FF back in January, something I completely forgot about. But surprisingly, they were completely out of $20-$25 tickets and none were expected in soon. Strange.
We visited the Market at Cedar Key where I picked up 1 100X Ticket #024 which was an even money winner $25. They displayed the tickets oddly hanging down from the shelf in visible view of the customer, something I don't normally see in gas stations or Publix (usually hidden or locked up).
The other place was another Jiffy Store next to the Post Office. They were out of GRT but were the only ones that had $20 Monopoly. I didn't have a good feeling so I passed. I thought the area would be more isolated than it was, but I guess they do sell a good deal of lottery business.
As for remote locations, I have looked at the map of Florida and have pinpointed to be what I believe is the most isolated lottery location in the entire state. Eventually, I'd like to take a trip there and try some rolls, but I'm still in the middle of changing jobs at the moment and can't afford to spend what I want so I'm throwing it out there to others that might be interested. Perhaps some of the mysteriously missing old and unclaimed top prizes might be at this location.
Kenansville Country Store (Citgo), Kenansville, FL - It sits on the corner of US441 and Osceola County Road 523 (S Canoe Creek Rd) in Southern Osceola County and is a virtual ghost town with nothing around for 20 miles in either direction. This stretch of 441 is infrequently traveled because the faster Turnpike bypasses it completely to where the only people using the road are either locals, cheapskates trying to avoid Turnpike Tolls or people headed out to lakes/ranches like Lake Marian. I can speak to being a cheapskate about tolls because I used to use this stretch of highway when I traveled from Orlando to WPB coming back from military duty and I can attest that if one thinks they are going to make better or the same time on 441, FHP is there to greet you.
The population of the town is 740, mostly older persons, of whom less than 500 are over 18. Just about all traffic from Orlando/Kissimmee to Okeechobee City and vice-versa will use the faster Turnpike and get on/off at Yeehaw Junction. This makes the stretch of US441 traffic between SR 60 and US 192 in Holopaw very thin. Even truckers who decide to avoid the Turnpike, if they need services, will stop instead at the larger and truck accomodating Pilot Travel Center at the Turnpike/Yeehaw Interchange, approximately 16 miles south. Additionally, traffic around Yeehaw has greatly declined because discount tickets for the attractions are no longer sold there. I could be wrong, but I think in terms of scratch-offs, Kenansville would be one of the least most visited areas in the state.
Sure, there are others that could be it as well since FL has a lot of small towns. But many times those small towns are still on major arteries that people still frequently travel. A lot of panhandle towns could probably also qualify, but I suspect a good number of border lottery retailers (Bama) do better. Kenansville has been completely bypassed. There's no other businesses (the supposed Heartbreak Hotel has closed down). Other places I thought might be isolated and have slower business would be Cedar Key (in and out only via SR 24) and the BP on St George Island, but I still think they do more.
