I would have to say over my life time on playing the lottery I'm down around $2,500! And that's between the Calif. lottery 6/49 and the CA Super Lotto (when I lived there 85- 94) and the MM and PB games only!

Scratch offs I don't play!

I've certainly lost money, but I do not know how much. It is certainly less than $500, though.

Today's winning 3-ball is going to be a number between 000 and 999.

In a lot of states, lotteries benefit education. That makes the REAL winners the only people who can't play!

Behind. I was easily ahead a couple months ago (I turned 18 last year, started playing a couple months later - got lucky with a couple QPs. and my bday, the 2nd time it hit, I happened to have it 5x box) but then I went on a scratch off binge- and yeah, those are only good IF you hit a giant prize)

I hope I can get ahead again, but I'm not counting on it. I've gotten amazingly good (compared to when I first started playing, I really didn't think there was any method that would raise your win rate - now I think there is, although it's very complicated and doesn't garuntee you jack. Besides playing with 50% of odds payout, it's easy to beat the odds and still be behind,you'd have to win more than twice as much as probability shows to be ahead if you play everyday.) at picking the winning Pick 3 numbers, but in order to do so, sometimes I come up with more numbers than is worth playing. So.......... I think if I get lucky again with something like 5x straight, even if it doesn't put me ahead, I'll be happy.

This is why I play most numbers on Pen and Paper, and play some numbers straight like 4 times and wheel. I figure, the only ways to be ahead on Lottery are a) Get Lucky or b) Play your number a bunch of times. If it comes out, the money you get is a few hundred or thousand instead of 40 bucks - which doesn't even fill a tank nowadays.

That's much smarter than you think.

While Statisticians will tell you it's a waste to play lottery (And I LOVE statistics) truth be told, the only lotteries "Worth" playing are the big ones. Sure, odds are ridiculously low, but somebody wins. And if you are going to play lottery, you should play a game that IF you win - you are set.

Although technically speaking, if you waited long enough - and the jackpot grew large enough, you could literally have the house odds in your favor. It's just that the odds being in your favor is then concentrated into the Jackpot, AKA, the least likely win.

I've played a total of 4 days on the Texas Pick3 lotto and won twice. I'm ahead 1300.

ha, i lose money ever year, maybe 1 day it pay off LOL

i just do my best to keep it contained to less then what i spend on stuff like starbucks over the year LOL

limting my self to 1 buck if jackpot below 50m cash, , to 2 bucks when a jackpot above 50m, to 3 bucks near 75m, and 100m cash i tend to go about 4 to 5 bucks, , at that point capped to a new record setter appears, then i turn into buyer with a major case of lotto fever , like 240m cash mm jackpot we just had at start of this year,

ether way am sure under 300-400 bucks a year on normaly

i just spend money to Dream Big about how to spend/invest mm/pb jackpot amounts

, aka entertainment value worth it ,

thro you people who play pack 3,4s are intresting to watch to see how you do overall

Pretty much just beginners luck lol.

When I first started playing, i played just my birthday box. Then a few weeks in, after if came out, started playing quick picks and hit for 414 dollars on the Pick 3. Well, since then, I've only had one other hit straight on a ticket, and the clerk gave it to me box for midday and straight for evening, so I only got the box.

I've had plenty of straights on Pen and Paper, and on the forums here, but I don't really play that many numbers anymore, because I'll be a big loser in the long run if I did. I just hope that one of these days I'll get lucky on a $1-3 bet.

For years I would just go get a grouper along with the $1 scratchers but then I asked myself.."is this what I REALLY want to win?" The answer was no, so I started playing regular lotto numbers. Then the powerball was introduced and I play that when it gets about 50 million or so. a dollar is a dollar, if I'm going to lose it i might as well be dreaming big while doing so.

Now raffles are another story all togther. I wonder what the statisticians have to say about those! I think they have the best odds and are more exciting to play because of the limited number of tix sold. Even if i don't get a $70 winner in next week's drawing the excitement ive felt over the past couple of months is well worth the $80 i've spent on tickets. it truly is a great form of entertainment.

As for the question at hand: God only knows how much i've "lost". But how much do video games cost? Let's not even get started on how much i've spent on games and systems over the years. i've spent far less on the lottery by comparison but get about the same enjoyment out of both.

I am down over ten grand over the years because I played powerball since 1996 about the same time I started to play megabucks the oregon lottery state game but now I only play mega millions and powerball with any regularity. So I would say closer to twenty grand and don't even get me started on my casino losses since I turned 21 about 14 years ago. I still have my fair share of casino jackpots it must be over 12 jackpots in 14 years. But when I was working I would go to spirit mountain casino alot over the years. Now not so much. I still love to play for the lottery jackpots though.-weshar75
