"or is the machine really just screwing around with me?"

Assuming repeated numbers are as common in the real world as they ar ein the reported experienceof people here I'd say that QP's from lottery terminals use a wheeling system. Looking at posts here I'd guess that perhaps half of players believe in wheeling, or are at least interested in the concept.  So why the fuss about repeated numbers when you buy a QP? If you want a random assortment from the full set of numbers it's easy enough to do.

I bought a QP today and I got 13-14-15-16-20 for the 5 white balls. This has to be the third time within the past year I got 4 consecutive numbers. I don't remember the last time I've seen 4 consecutive numbers even get picked for a drawing. If Quickpicks are random like the Mechanical Lottery Ball Machine, then why do I keep getting so many consecutive numbers?

That has the same chance as any other combination!

Today's winning 3-ball is going to be a number between 000 and 999.

In a lot of states, lotteries benefit education. That makes the REAL winners the only people who can't play!

Yeah, the same chance that it's extremely unlikely to come up, lol.
