Playing the lottery is a Win or Lose situation no matter how many tickets we buy.

I spent $36 and won $4 by catching the MB twice for a total loss of $32.

I WAS NOT VERY THRIFTY WITH THE WORLD'S BIGGEST LOTTERY JACKPOT.

"Invest" your $4 win into Wednesday's PB, and take home $70 million. This will reduce your previous loss of $32 to a net win of $69, 999, 968.00!

There goes your $60 annual lottery budget.

Are the odds against winning a $476 million, $500 million, $540 million, $640 million,$656 million jackpot less than winning a $12 million jackpot?

You were right Stack47, I have spent like a $100 already. I have learned the following.

The lottery 50/50 rule=Playing the lottery is a Win or Lose situation no matter how many tickets we buy.

A friend of mine bought 10 tickets using Anthony Davis' basketball jersey number (23) as the bonus number with QPs for the other numbers and was very excited when he saw the results. But The best he could match was one 2 + 1, one 1 + 1 and eight 0 + 1. So even though we can win, we usually don't win as much as we expected.

You have to be in it to win it

There were 651,915,940 tickets sold so if we calculate the odds the same as we do for buying 10 tickets (17,500,000 to 1) we get odds 1 to 3.5. There were 16,352,618 tickets winning something or about 1 out of every 40 tickets. After reading many post the last few days and looking at the results, all we had to do is look at the odds charts on the websites and playslips. The odds of winning anything are 1 in 40 and the expected number of jackpot winning tickets was 3.

While I agree we must play to win, 635,563,322 tickets still won nothing.

To Coin Toss: Odds are always reduced to the lowest common denominator even if 1 out 40 actually means 16 million out of 652 million.
