You might have done it if you had put each word, or even better each letter, in its own post.

Here's an unofficial (I think I got them all) tally of the guesses that extend out from today :

        Max - 07/11

        McGinn - 7/13

        Me - 7/17

        Blackie - 7/19

        Night - 7/20

        Marcie - 7/25

        Max2 - 8/23

Max, I like how you have two thoroughbreads in this race, one on the inside and one on the outside.  You've got the field bracketed nicely.

Looks like it  might be between Blackie and Nightstalker.

But, yeah, it looks like a two-horse race to the end.

Blackie is in the lead coming into the final turn, but here comes Nightstalker on the outside.

Del Mar racing season opens tomorrow, so I'm just getting warmed up for it.

Plus, those are both pretty good names for thoroughbreds, although Haymaker would also be a good horse name - this horse makes its own hay, pretty convenient.

Cool that you make it sound like you're calling a race,

Does del mar still use the slogan "make hay while the sun shines"  ?

in which case hay is slang for money.

Their surrent slogan is "cool as ever" which is cool, and previously they used an old/new juxtaposition in a commercial, with models of the Bing Crosby era and today's models, as well as video shots of the crowd at the track then and now.  It was nicely done, and I'm actually getting deja vu, because I'm pretty sure we may be having an AARP conversation, meaning one that we already had and forgot.  Or maybe it's just me, but I'm pretty sure about  it.

Speaking of races, the number of posts keeps climbing closer and suddenly, here comes Epistrophy making a late charge to the finish line.  The Dave Wottle of horses.

Thanks, though given my recent track record (no pun intended) I would be just as likely to pull a hamstring.  Then I'd have to talk Wilbur Post into helping me avoid the glue factory.

I think I figured this right - if it rolls over before 12:37.30 pm tomorrow I win, and after that, Blackie wins.  So it's a race to the finish.

                          But then again, who's counting?
