My vote is yes because the last time it rolled, it hit the 2nd highest jackpot in United States History ($588 million).

Coincidentally, the last jackpot won before that run was also at $50 million.

I wonder when Powerball will be won right at $40 million.  Maybe it's tonight.

          indeed

its now been won 3 times in a roll at 50 million

this will be 4th  50 million jackpot in past month

will it meet the fate of 3 past jackpots

or will it break the new pattern of being won at 50 ever freaking time this month.

          No bees, no honey.

Florida won the last Powerball Jackpot on Wednesday December 26th, 2012. Now the Powerball jackpot is at $50 million for their first draw in the year 2013.

Considering tonight's Powerball was the same as one of the five white balls, it really will be a curse (to the MUSL) if the jackpot is won again.  I tried to cash in on this "curse" by playing tonight, but only one of my numbers was picked, and it wasn't even the Powerball.

I think they are keeping the jackpots low until crapafornia joins in.  These lotteries can't possibly be 100% honest!

Well, how about that?  It actually rolled over to $60 million.  Now it only has to roll over six or seven more times before the MUSL can start recouping its losses from the last four wins.

The math is on their side, just can't figure out why lately the odds weren't in their favor too.

I think they were WAY ahead before the "odds" turned against them.

They're betting once or twice a year the jackpot will trigger jackpot fever. They made $1/2 billion on the record jackpot run so they don't mind paying out an extra million or two a few time a year.

Yeah, I'll bet their emergency funds were at their cap after November's jackpot run.  However, they probably still need to draw down the jackpot for a while once it gets over $110 million, but it probably won't be by more than 2% of sales, per their rules.

Did you noticed both games increased their cash values for this weekend about $6.4M?  Since both get 1/3 of sales for their jackpots, MegaMillions sales will have to increase to $19.2M  from $18.2M to cover its increase while if PB sales increase from $28.8M it will have an extra $3M over what it needs to cover its increase.

The extras are probably being used to make up for the shortests in the past or preparing for them in the future.  While PowerBall is charging more for their tickets and selling less of them, over the long haul both games payouts and sales totals are close.

RJOh, you are correct.  The current Powerball cash jackpot of $63.5 million is actually $0.5 million OVERfunded, based on expected sales of $36 million for Saturday (in addition to its actual total sales of $164 million for its first six jackpots in the current run), but they need to deduct a percentage of sales at times from the jackpot in order to replenish their set prize/guaranteed jackpot cash reserve.  If nobody wins Saturday, Wednesday's advertised jackpot will probably still increase by only $10 million to $110 million, like it has the last four runs that made it this far.
