Its gonna be a good size if not massive jackpot where cali barely contributed any money and is going to win on the first draw..........lol

I think at least one more Powerball jackpot is certain to be won before California joins though, especially seeing as its increased by more than $10 million Wednesday night, when no one hit it.  On the last several runs before this, it took two more draws for this to happen.

if this happened, half of the posters on this forum's heads would explode!

That's ezactly why we have to keep our wits about us.

We should give CA back to Mexico before they join Powerball and avoid this mess.

And nobody will be the wiser.

Like Rdgnr said, it's a good possibility that California might win the very first night...just think about how many powerball tickets are going to be purchased in California for that draw???? Someone there stand a chance on drawing the winning combination, but then again, I've learned with lotteries, expect the unexpected.....Who knows? Maybe Lady Luck might decide to fool everyone and cast her magic luck dust on some veryyyyyy sweeeet lady here in South Carolina <SMILE>

The California lottery will start selling tickets for Powerball on Monday, April 8th and the Wednesday, April 10th drawing will be the first time Californians will have a chance to win. How long do you think it will take for a Californian to win Powerball?

May onwards.l have also  noticed that NYers don't go bigtime for the PB while the jackpot is low. Perhaps the idea that one has to pay double for a ticket unlike MM  resonates with them.

No PB jackpot for Cali for the first year of play. They will however keep smashing the MM jp like they have been doing.

                That money's gone fo ever

California and New York keep being compared. I understand they are similar because they have large populations and large economies but one difference they have is Powerball has been available in New York for years and Powerball will be available in California for the first time in April.

the PB jackpot is back to $40 million. So for California's first shot at Powerball, the April 10th draw, the jackpot should be $80 million if no one wins until then.

If the Powerball jackpot is at least double the Mega Millions jackpot, then PB tickets will be selling like hotcakes in Cali.

                        I wish....but sadly no.

There's always the next jackpot. Next month, with Cali money entering the pot, the jackpot should grow faster....at least that's what I keep telling myself.

no one really knows for sure. The jackpot can be won and re-set on any draw.

If you look at this chart: http://www.lotterypost.com/game/4/jackpot

you'll see after the huge $588 million jackpot in November, Powerball was stuck in the $50 million range for a month. The jackpot would be re-set to $40 million, roll to $50 million and then won.

If no one wins PB until California's first draw on April 10th, the jackpot will be $80 million and if Mega Millions is only 12 million at the time, expect PB sales to be very brisk.
