  Not all states use computer generated numbers for the Pick 3 and 4, noise-gate.

  Illinois still uses ping pong balls and since Iowa uses Illinois' numbers for those games I guess you can say Iowa does, too.

  Just go to the Results section, pick any state, ant game More, and Game Information.

  Before you play there are 2 choices to make. Low sum or high sum and consecutive pair or no consecutive pair. Choose correctly and you go from 120 combos down to 30. Not a bad starting point.

  I don't know if Pick3 can be beaten in the long run but Golden Soul sure can. Ratfarts!

  Thanks Coin Toss-l however am interested in how the games unfold in this fair State. That computer generated crap is in all our games except MM, PB, Super Lotto Plus.No disrespect intended bud.l read a report where a lottery official wrote that its "cheaper" to use CGN because to replace a singular ping pong ball for say the MM game cost up to $40, 000. I thought that completely outrageous.

  Hoosier Lottery officials said the change from pingpong balls to computers was made for two reasons: reliability and cost.

  "We had used 15 (pingpong ball) machines since 1989, and they were showing wear and tear," lottery spokesman Andrew Reed said. "They would have cost at least $40,000 each to replace. Two portable computers cost about $700 each."

  And Lottery Director Jack Ross said computers are not only more reliable but also produce numbers that are even more random, since even slight differences in the weight of pingpong balls -- caused by wear, paint or other factors -- could affect the numbers chosen. The lottery's selection process is closely monitored by impartial auditors, Ross and Reed said.

   

  Oops- $ 40,000 for the Machine, not the ping pong ball.

  Ask anyone from Tennessee about the computer drawings being random... They can be as random as the programmers aka.

  Yeah, I thought you might have meant California specifically, but big board, lots of lottos, so when a question like the one in the OP is being asked, any lotto any state seems to be the default.

  The references in this thread to Tennesse, if I remember right, are that when TN first got the lottery players could play triples in the Pick 3 but none could ever be drawn.

  Yeah, they allowed you to play all the doubles you wanted.

  But they had the computer programmed so doubles could never win.

  They let it go on a little too long though and got caught.

  That's why discerning players prefer the mechanical ball machines.
