Just looked on my state lottery, California won 60 million dollar jackpot already.  Are they trying to bail out californias broke cities by  giving them consistent  jackpot wins so they don't have to separate into 6 states?  Maybe some other worthy state can win then if they split up california.

How does someone who won PB bail out California's broke cities? With only $60 million before taxes?

CAN'T WIN IF YOU'RE NOT IN

    A DOLLAR AND A DREAM (OR $2)

California doesn't even tax lottery.  I can't think how else the state would profit.  Maybe sales tax from increased consumption, but even that's not even going to be a blip on the radar in the scheme of things.

The 25% is collected for the IRS not the California Franchise Tax Board. California does not tax lottery winnings on a state level.

I don't buy that they win because they are more populated,  Try some other explanation.  Why do mostly democrat states often win?

I'll take a stab at a guess.  More Republicans belong to conservative, fundamentalist religions that believe it's morally wrong to buy a lottery ticket.  If that's true, then there are more Dems buying tickets than Reps.  But that still boils down to the states that sell the most tickets tend to win the most often.

LOL!  No way is simple mathematics involved when california has won mega millions  "allegedly" 5 times this year according to the winners gallery.  So far this year allegedly 3 powerball wins for california,  so total in all,  that is 8 jackpot wins so far this year!  Something just doesn't "add up",  with the constant wins,  if you actually look at the data,  the lottery is often biased towards california.

Think of the places that have more then 60% plus democrat vote, they're  often broken down, crime ridden, cesspools.

What's that got to do with lottery sales?

Well, my home has more than 60% democratic voters, and we're not broken down, nor have we had any crime here.   We do have a septic system, which works as designed because we pump it frequently.

I can't say much about places that have less than 50% democratic voters, but I would note that when one walks around enough, one sees a large sample of Republicans who think that Obama is a robot controlling the brains of everyone on the planet, is secretly allied with dark beings of the nether world and oh yeah, of course, keeps god fearing Republicans from winning the lottery by secretly controlling all the world's lotto balls.Roll Eyes
