I actually have a friend who is very negative and he would say things like that to me all the time. I'd smile and say "me, not win lol. I always win" when I hit the Texas a Two Step he shut up. Lol

The guy in front of me was checking his tickets and his buddy says " Jeff, you never gonna win dude". My first thought was why don't you shut your mouth since it seemed obvious that he was not a player.

What would be your response?...just asking!

      Good one, Sully.

I usually tell them that the odds are against the players but even at that they are a lot better if you have a ticket!

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

      Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

          "a lot"

          What?

I wouldn't say a lot. One ticket wouldn't make a scratch, much less a dent in the odds. Green laugh

Those are the kinds of people who like to laugh when you don't win - it's a superiority complex issue with them.

They make you the butt of jokes to make themselves feel better because they sure don't want to see YOU win

because that means the places are changed then. YOU are on top with your winnings and riding high on the hog

but trouble is with those people is they imagine you are trying to one up them when all you're doing is trying to

            one up the lottery.

WHO cares if you play with YOUR money except an insecure knucklehead who can't stand seeing someone else having

bigger and better anything than he does?

My answer to people like that:

If you don't want to play the lottery, why waste time watching those that do?

I'll watch my money, you watch yours.

Tell them you hope they'll have the same sour, insecure attitude when you do win because they'll be so mad

and envious, they won't ask you for a dime. They'll just seethe about it and talk about you behind your back.

It can't get better than that because what comes around goes around.

Yeah, true. But in comparison to not having a ticket at all...

It would only take one wining ticket to turn a naysayer into a mooch.

I would buy them a ticket and make it a stipulation they need to give me half of any of their winnings..just because I am a nice guy.  See Ya!

I'd tell him: "Dave, then you really have no right to whine about life; you have a slave soul!"

"Understand... people are more complicated than the masks they wear in society... everyone is playing to win, and some people will use moral justifications to advance their side"

Man, this reply really covers the bases and is on point. There are lots of people in this world that simply wallow in negativity but, when you conquer that very thing they've been cracking on you about, then here they come. I've even seen it to where that same negative person tried to use 'reverse psychology' and tell the so-called friend, "I knew that if I said stuff like that, it would really motivate you to try harder...and look what happened!"

No, the person's persistence finally manifested and paid off through 'positivity.' Granted, we also have a responsibility to set reasonable goals. For the most part, negative people are empty and 'numb' both inside and out.

                        L.L.

Small games, frequent wins, and regular payouts 'cause.....

There are seven days in the week...'Someday' isn't one of them.

"Instead of going to church and giving a tithe, I play the lottery." Red Devil LOL

If the chances of winning the jackpot are so slim, why play when the jackpot is so small? Your chances never change, but the potential payoff does.
If a crystal ball showed you the future of the rest of your life, and in that future you will never win a jackpot, would you still play?

It depends on who is telling me that. If it's one of my friends I would just say "I know" and end at that. If it's a stranger I would just ignore them like you would a Toyota Camry LOL
