Billion Dollar Jackpot / 3 winners = Million Dollar Winner

I am disappointed that they split the pot, they might have fought it out, last man standing gets it all! :D

1 billion net after taxes for one single person would be something!

That $1.6B jackpot was just the beginning of a VERY interesting year. We will probably, no, will most likely see 5 more billion+ jackpots this year. Like, every 2 months.

I don't think so. I don't think the level of spening we saw this month will be sustainable if it happens that often.

But then, I didn't think this one would climb so high, so fast, so what do I know.

2 more billion dollar jackpots this year.  2nd one will have billion dollar winner(s) (if multi-winners - each ones portion >1B$)

      MF:

Given the odds for the game billion dollar draws won't happen very often.  In my many analysis I have found

that most random simulations will hit within 3 x the odds.   The 1.5 billion built very quickly as people went wild

buying tickets.  In two games it went from 500M to 1.5B which cut down on the number of drawings it took to

reach that level.  I hope that people come away from this record with the knowledge that more tickets don't

really move them any closer.  The only real way to increase one odds mathematically is to but more tickets but

the increase is tiny as many found out.

        RL

Analyzing the data shows that once the jackpot starts rising by more than the minimum amount, the advertised jackpot is close to the cumulative number of tickets sold since the last winner (±10 million). So, on about 50% of runs, there will be a winner by the time the jackpot reaches around 200M. 90% of runs will end before 675M, and 97% will end before 1B. As there are historically about a dozen jackpot wins per year (probably less now given the matrix change), a billion dollar jackpot can be expected two or three times a decade.
