  Unluckyone, I agree the hotel millionaire, brad duke AND the Morrisons of New York that were accused by the state of overbilling for their shelter they ran.  It was shut down and people kept asking them why they didnt pay back the money and Richard was incensed, said they were NOT guilty and would work to clear their name now that they had the money to fight the state.  They were found not guilty!   Yay...... Good for them. 

  How about the father and son duo the Ficks from Michigan?  Werent they anybody's favorite?  LMAO.

  The Ficks from Michigan weren't one of my favorite success stories but rank right up there with David Lee Edwards as top cautionary tales of how not to behave. Yes, the Morrisons were right there as well as positive favorites and I am glad they won in court.

  She never bought the plane. She was never going to buy the plane. It was strictly for television purposes only. Bert Dickerson won $4.8 million and was looking at $3+ million houses on the show. He too was never actually going buy one of those homes. It was done for ratings.

  TLCML is like most episodes of Real Housewives. The "dream homes" are rented, the diamonds are paste and the vehicles are leased. It's all for appearances, it's not real. Consider them alternative facts. 

   

  As for the Geffen donation, it's a rarity for large donations to be a one time donation of funds. At the time Cynthia made the donation she had a financial advisor so it's doubtful she simply handed over $1 million when hadn't even put $1 million down on her house. She would have been advised to park a percentage of the $1 million in a trust or some form of 503 so she could get the tax write off but where it would grow interest and get to the $1 million donation amount that Geffen would receive over time. Doing it that way would also mean that she could dictate how Geffen House used that money or risk forfeiture of the donation.

  If she did it that way, it would have been a smart move. She lowers her tax burden (and since she lives in California, that's always VERY helpful), it makes her look altruistic and wealthy to be able to claim she made a $1 million donation without actually having to fork over $1 million, and she gets free buzz, free advertising and a seat on the board out of it. 

   

  She overspent, hooked up with a man less trustworthy than Hot Sauce, put her money in too many risky ventures and thought she could be a mover and shaker in Hollywood on $20 million. Geffen or fake jet shopping aren't the reasons she's broke.

  I too would prefer Cersei Lannister to Tiny Hands. She always pays her debts, hasn't filed 6 bankruptcies and is educated enough to know Nambia isn't a country.

  I dont doubt the fiance had something, make that everything, to do with it.  Especially once he married her, that money was half his and would not condone the spending.  I can only imagine how HE changed from what we saw on tv.  The sad part was her goal of getting the kids together and raising them and she let the golddigger into her life and dictate.  Purely my opinion but i have seen this situation play out so many times, and not just lottery winners.  Not to say she didnt share in her own financial demise but he was right there with her from the beginning of her win.

  COS: FWIW, I just saw HGTV is running back-to-back episodes of My Lottery Dream Home beginning today at 1:00 PST.  Says 2017 but repeats, maybe repeats from last night?  I dont know as I rarely watch Hgtv anymore.

  Based on what she said, 2 of the younger kids were put on psych meds because they acted out after their father died. I imagine it must have been something disturbing because psych meds aren't forced on kids otherwise.

  She claimed what they did was the result of the trauma of losing their father, and that they'd settle down. She was told the kids had to take the meds. According to her, someone told child services that she'd stopped giving the kids the meds and she thinks it was her sister. 

  The day child services showed up because of that anonymous tip, her sister also showed up and seemed happy that child services was there.

   

  Cynthia likes to embellish so i have to take her claims with a grain of salt. I don't know if they were taken away from her at that time or if she was just told that they would be. It's like playing connect the dots with her. She said it was over meds, but I believe impending homelessness would have played a bigger factor. Especially since she said all the issues with child services disappeared once she got the money. Her refusing to give the kids meds wouldn't have been impacted by winning the lottery. So I'm connecting that dot.

   

  However, I do believe 100% that her sister is trouble. She was living in section 8 when she gave an online interview about how Cynthia was showing off her money and how she split the winnings with the brother and father and not her. The father seems like a man who does his best to help out his family. That the father refused to give her any money tells me a lot about her. The father's tough love approach to her drug addiction and laziness is something Jack Whittaker should have done.
