My point is the quick picks are advantageous to the lotteries and disadvantageous to the players. We differ in the scale of advantage/disadvantage.
I can take an extreme example that many people in USA and Down Under remember. One American lotto game reached a jackpot far larger than total combos in the game. A group of investors with large pockets bought tickets in an amount equal to total combos. They thought they covered every possibility. They was wrong. They covered only 63% of the total. Luckily for them the winning combo was in the 63% group they covered. There were millions of combos that were not covered in that group of 37% duplicates.
You can say two things. One, they paid for millions of tickets that were not necessary. The lottery commission did cash all that money though. Two, there was a 1 in 3 chance to lose all the money the group invested. Advantage the lottery again.
I admit this is an extreme case. But it is true every draw that groups who play many tickets get duplicate numbers. They didn’t want to play those numbers. Had they replaced the duplicates by di8fferent numbers they would have had better odds to win. Not by much you might say but still that’s how probability works. Multiply that by the large number of players and you’ll have more winners if avoiding the duplicates. The numbers don’t lie here even if you’d say the scale is small.
As for repeating combos from previous draws you said it best:
“The chances of repeating the winning combination from the previous drawing in 50 years is about 1 in 56,000.”
If you know the last combo wont repeat why play it for 50 years * 100 lotto draws = 5000 wasted tickets in one game??? You maight say again “Whats $5000 among friends?!”
"There is a word a lot of people are apparently not familiar with - it's called COINCIDENCE, or COINCIDENTAL.
Explains a lot about RNGs."
Its about PROBABILITY of COINCIDENCES or COLLISIONS or REPETITIONS or DUPLICATION. The Birthday Paradox is the most famous case. Just 23 people in a room and the probability is 50-50 that at least two persons have the same birthday. For 50 people the probability of coincidences is 97%.
RNGs are by their nature obedient to repetition or duplication. That is not favorable to the lottery players. Add to the problem combos like 123456. You play combos that wont hit the next draw. Even if its not a lot why play and pay for them??? Controlled RNGs improve your odds even if it aint a whole lot.. but better than nothing.
PS
KY Floyd you work for the lottery, don’t you. No big deal it’s a good job, so what? But it would be nice if you'd share some “insider” info J
