You aren't the only one who had their winning streak cut short by the lottery folks.
Back in the day, so to speak, there were many daily game winners, including myself.
Face it, the lotteries exist to make money and they are doing everything in their power to make consistent winning as difficult as possible.
The drawing mechanisms being used today are formidable, as compared to years ago when most lotteries weren't very smart, and players had many advantages.
I sometimes wonder if anyone has ever counted the many lottery strategies and software that became available years ago but no longer exist or are seldom updated.
I blame adoption of pre-testing measures as perhaps the most important feature lotteries have implemented that is actually minimizing player wins.
The Texas lottery wouldn't conduct six pre-tests for it's jackpot game if they didn't believe it is giving them the advantage.
Yes, things have changed, but, if they are being truthful, many gamblers are still finding ways to win.
We just have to keep trying while remembering - it's for entertainment purposes only.

I wholly agree with Raven62's sentiment about the thrill of winning, especially if one is capable of doing it reasonably consistent where they remain in the green even if it means a smaller profit. However, at some point, it becomes very clear that the thrills don't pay any bills. Yes, it's very exciting to realize the potential of winning money and factoring in one's profit spread when working out Pick 3/4. The excitement is derived directly from knowing that it can be done AGAIN which makes it dependable and also that you no longer have to be afraid to splurge more as you can replace those funds via winnings. *I know a guy that regularly uses a portion of his winnings (profits) to purchase top dollar scratch offs which means that it actually costs him nothing to lose or to win. He's knocked off several $1K wins and a $5K win...all at the expense of others. Now, THAT'S how you gamble!!

Small games, frequent wins, and regular payouts 'cause.....

exactly my friend. Now we are delving deeper into our minds which perhaps we need to do. The fear of losing perhaps is more powerful than the thrill of winning. Is it the thrill of winning or the fact that we have lost which keeps us in this frame of mind. But outside looking in is a little different when you’re in, lol. Just saying is all. It’s nice to be honest at least.

Sometimes you do the right thing just because it’s right.

Life's a game of mathematics, if you can't figure that out I don't know what to tell you.

I don't know....about all that.

I do know I have no fear of losing. If I did, I sure wouldn't be dropping the change I'm dropping.

I also don't have a thrill of winning. Oh, I would be happy if I won a jackpot. But, I think about it a lot. To be able to retire, buy a place in the hill country. That's why I'm in every draw. The "what if" factor. People that win jackpots don't expect to win.

I understand playing P3 and P4. Heck, I play P4 myself. But, the way Tx has their daily games set up, 4 draws a day, that's something I rarely do. The payout on P4 will help with property taxes. That's it. That's definitely not what I would call a thrill.

Maybe not you, perhaps I’m being general, but you are not everybody on the single planet who puts down one or two dollar bills.

The problem with systems is that they are worthless. Each drawing is an independent random event, consisting of drawing some ping pong balls at random from a hopper.

The only thing you can do with a game is calculate the expected value. This is the amount you will win, on average. Past drawings have no effect on future results.

The sooner you realize that, the more time you will save trying to predict the unpredictable.

My Mom says the same thing. She just can’t understand it. She says exactly the same thing you say. And that’s fine you know. One opinion doesn’t rule over all. Just pundits. Even though I tell her and show her I won $5,000 based on a system. To each their own that’s all. I disagree with you wholeheartedly by the way. Unless you are talking about every single game. Then that would go back to my other point. There are many who have used math to win games.

It's not an opinion, it's a fact. You win by blind luck.

Math is used to win (or lose less) at video poker, blackjack, any game that requires skill. The lottery, keno, roulette, and slot machines are all games where there is no skill, only blind luck.

That is not to say that those are "bad" games. I like playing those games as well. But the games that require skill have a higher payback percentage.

You won $5,000 (assuming this was a lottery game?) based on luck, not a system.

What you say about math and luck is probably true, but there are exceptions.
If you create and use a system that tracks 'trends.' in lieu of math, you see a lottery game in a different light.
Yes, it's still random, but, it's amazing what you can find when you use random as a sort of prediction tool.
I have tracking schemes that do just that.
All I have to do is evaluate the short term trends and make correct choices = no math required.
A shame that so many lottery gamblers are trapped in the 'odds, probability, statistics' math bubbles that they can't see
the possibility of doing something different can have positive results.
But, yes, it's a 'to each his own' situation.
You go ahead and live in your unlucky-random-math world.
Personally, I'll keep trying to create my own luck with my methods that pay off some of the time.
I'd much rather win or lose on my own merits rather than letting some Quick Pick RNG decide my fate.

I don't agree, if they left the machines alone and stop messing with them I would probably be in the black. There are Trends and patterns are formed whether you like it or not so don't say it's a fact.

75% of the time, or about 70% of the time 75% one or two numbers will repeat from the previous draw, that's a fact not an opinion. There are many more little things like that that occur when a pattern is developed over 7 to 10 draws. Then that pattern changes and that's where the hard part begins, knowing what pattern is due next.

There are times when only one number show in the next draw, or none at all for two to three drawers in a row. That's also another way the capitalized on it but again because of all the messing around when the machines and pre-tests, all that goes right out the window.

Before May 2008 , I was winning on a regular basis, in fact I want $3,000 on the number 984 from a Steve player chart I look like a stock market chart plotting the activity of the game in real time. I was going to drop $100 on that number but I chickened out at the very end. I only bet $6 straight on that number. I won $1,500 on the number 470 because all signs were telling me it was a very good chance that number would come out and it did. So please don't tell me systems don't work. Sure there's a lot of luck involved but there's also a lot of mind power involved. But when the officials screw around with the game, it's near impossible to win.

It's not a coincidence that after May of 2008, my wins were gradually starting to go downhill.

With respect to your opinion, I'd like you to strongly consider something. Every one of the games you list above are derived from numeric systems which is resultant of mathematics. All odds, probabilities, and chances are stringently based on mathematics. The problem, though, is that with more numbers entered into a given game, the chances of winning become harder and harder and the player is forced to just 'take a shot' and hope for the best. This is true with games such as roulette, keno, and the slots as the payout (prize) is fixed but more money spent to capture that prize diminishes the profit spread in the event of a win. Then, there's what's referred to as an 'upside down profit' where the player spends well enough to win a few times but, as soon they take a hit and lose, all that same profit is eaten up. I've personally experienced both of these scenarios which is why I'm a big math advocate regarding the Pick games.

My idea behind math is that the player must use it in order to realize just where they stand after every single play, okay. The only way to know when you need to win and how much you need to win...is by math. There's no other way to balance your books...period. Yes, when arranging combos for your next play session, you need math to know how much it's gonna cost you instead of waiting for the clerk to run your tickets and tell you...if you're state side. Further more, there's a gross misconception with definition of a win. If a player has been spending a total of $10/day for (5) days, that player is $50 in with expenses. This means that on the sixth day, they need to hit pairs TWICE for $50 ($25X's2) to break even in certain states, or two like numbers for $80 on a $.050 bet in the case of Texas where they'd actually then turn a $30 profit. There's no luck to the small games in my honest opinion, just knowing what you need to do, when, and HOW. Now, if this same player only manages a hit of $25 or even $40 then, of course, it's still technically a win but, in reality, they've simply recovered a portion of their expenses. MATH dictates all of these conclusions. I could care less about winning tickets. **What I want to know is how much a player has been spending, how they've been spending it, and HOW LONG they've been spending it. Give me those numbers, and I can tell ANY PLAYER just where they stand and what they need to do when it comes to the small Pick games. Blind luck is reserved for MM's, PB, regular state lottery jackpots, Cash 5, etc. unless you're on the level of those MIT students and have both the money and math skills to guarantee the win. They did it with money and math.

I must have missed where someone said past drawings have an effect on future drawings with the exception of the Texas Lottery. They conduct pre-drawing test and the results determine whether or not it's necessary to use a different ball set. It sure looks like they are saying the "past unofficial" pre-drawings tests has an effect on the next "official" drawing.

Lots of systems are based on the same probabilities that existed for past drawings and will exist for future drawings.

Lottery bets are just like any other bet based on the betters conditions being met whether the odds are 1 out of 1000 or even money. If you place a bet on a Blackjack table, are you predicting you'll beat the dealer?
