Upon further review......
It appears my count may be off by one in each column of the gap codes. Either that or a ripple in the matrix.
Sad news, but correctable.
GI'm probably here unless I'm not.
Dreaming would be a perfectly useless function if it's only purpose was to entertain. -
gary0, I get 46,376 total Gap Codes for TX 5/35 game. Does that match your results?

I'm ignoring the overall gap for the time being. Instead I'm using the four gaps between each number in an effort to determine which sets produce the most winners.

The total is the number of sets produced by that gap.
Yes, its the long road. The hope is to find a threshold that might allow the elimination of some gap codes. And then it could be nothing more than an exercise in futility proving only how random the draws truly are.
But I'll eventually be able to incorporate the total showing how many combinations share the same gap code. And perhaps find some commonality in that.
And that may still prove useless, but we won't know until we get there.G
I'm probably here unless I'm not.
Dreaming would be a perfectly useless function if it's only purpose was to entertain. -
Allen, you have me hooked on the gaps. If I end up eating crow, I'm ok with that.
I randomly picked the 1140 Gap Codes, with 18 permutations each, for a total of 20,520 lines to choose from. They have the most overall 5/5 hits at 185.
What this means to me is rather than having 575,757 lines to filter, I can reduce that down to 20,520 lines. I only have a 1 in 28 chance (3.57%) of any 1 of those lines hitting, but I'm not looking to win a jackpot each time I play. I will continue to look at the gaps, along with other filters, and see what happens.

I assume you Selected 1140 Codes and then found that 185 of them have already hit.
Interesting approach. I would never have thought of it.

There are 20 repeats in those 185 hits, so I don't know if I'd be eliminating the Gap Codes that have already hit.
I'll dig deeper later tonight.

Here are the results of Gap Codes for OH 5/39 game after 5218 drawings.
For column definitions, I'll use Perm Group 18 for example.
Perm Group (18) and Gap Codes (1140) = there are 1140 Gap Codes that each contain 18, five number permutations.
Total Perms (20520) = the total number of five number permutations contained in the Perm Group (18 x 1140).
Times Drawn = how many times Gap Codes from Group 18 have been drawn.
Drawings = the percentage of drawings where the winning Gap Code is contained in Group 18
Permutations = the percentage of all possible permutations that are found in Group 18
Plus Minus = are the number of hits from Group 18 plus or minus from the expected hits.Next I'll attempt to apply this filter to my program and see what happens.

We are getting fairly removed from the Original Topic with These Gap analysis Posts.
I am going to make one more and suggest that this might be better if Started as a New Topic. I'll hold off on that for Now but if anyone feels the Urge, I say go ahead and Start it. Otherwise, We can continue here in this Topic.
I Went Back to My Big Filter to implement a Repeat Analysis. I was Tracking Repeats from the previous 3 Draws individually and in Total. It occurred to me to check the Gaps surrounding a Draw position that contained a Number drawn in the 3 Rounds.
Below is a Picture of Recent Results (I have run the Entire history). In the Picture you find the Number 3133 Next to the Logo. That is the average number of games that contained a Repeat (1_2) in the Game History. Below it are the 5 Position Counts. The Right 3 Columns find Gaps 01, 02 and 03 when there is a Repeat (1_3) in the Draw. The Totals above those columns are for those Gaps. Above the Totals are the % of the Repeats that produced the gaps. More work to be done but Certainly worth the Effort, IMHO. I am going to do a runs for Repeat from the Previous Draw Alone and see what happens.

I originally saw this Gap talk as looking for filters to go along with what is in the book. I then realized that the Gap strategy has not shown itself to be a positive force, yet. So Allen, I agree, a new Gap topic is for the best. You started the Gap talk (or was it garyo), so it's yours to restart if you'd like.

I'm pointing the finger at AllenB (with no offense)!
But gap wasn't on my radar since I was busy with the root sum idea (which I'm still working on).
There are several threads on Gap Strategy here at LP so I've played with it (some), but never got serious about it until it was mentioned here. I still didn't think I'd spend a great deal of time on it, but I am, for whatever reason.
After several redos I think y'all should have called me a dummy and pointed out I wasn't starting the gaps at 1111!
I have no clue where my mind was and now I wonder where yours was too!
But I am getting the decaying pattern I hoped for now.....
F S T FR TTL F S T FR TTL 1 1 1 1 31 1 1 2 1 30 1 1 1 2 30 1 1 2 2 29 1 1 1 3 29 1 1 2 3 28 1 1 1 4 28 1 1 2 4 27 1 1 1 5 27 1 1 2 5 26 1 1 1 6 26 1 1 2 6 25 1 1 1 7 25 1 1 2 7 24 1 1 1 8 24 1 1 2 8 23 1 1 1 9 23 1 1 2 9 22 1 1 1 10 22 1 1 2 10 21 1 1 1 11 21 1 1 2 11 20 1 1 1 12 20 1 1 2 12 19 1 1 1 13 19 1 1 2 13 18 1 1 1 14 18 1 1 2 14 17 1 1 1 15 17 1 1 2 15 16 1 1 1 16 16 1 1 2 16 15 1 1 1 17 15 1 1 2 17 14 1 1 1 18 14 1 1 2 18 13 1 1 1 19 13 1 1 2 19 12 1 1 1 20 12 1 1 2 20 11 1 1 1 21 11 1 1 2 21 10 1 1 1 22 10 1 1 2 22 9 1 1 1 23 9 1 1 2 23 8 1 1 1 24 8 1 1 2 24 7 1 1 1 25 7 1 1 2 25 6 1 1 1 26 6 1 1 2 26 5 1 1 1 27 5 1 1 2 27 4 1 1 1 28 4 1 1 2 28 3 1 1 1 29 3 1 1 2 29 2 1 1 1 30 2 1 1 2 30 1 1 1 1 31 1 F is first, S is second, T is third, and Fr is fourth (to keep it simple). TTL is total. Each set loses on and each permutation loses one until we get to 1 1 31 1 which has only 1 total return. Then 1 2 1 1 starts here....
1 2 1 1 30 1 2 2 1 29 1 2 1 2 29 1 2 2 2 28 1 2 1 3 28 1 2 2 3 27 1 2 1 4 27 1 2 2 4 26 1 2 1 5 26 1 2 2 5 25 1 2 1 6 25 1 2 2 6 24 1 2 1 7 24 1 2 2 7 23 1 2 1 8 23 1 2 2 8 22 1 2 1 9 22 1 2 2 9 21 1 2 1 10 21 1 2 2 10 20 1 2 1 11 20 1 2 2 11 19 1 2 1 12 19 1 2 2 12 18 1 2 1 13 18 1 2 2 13 17 1 2 1 14 17 1 2 2 14 16 1 2 1 15 16 1 2 2 15 15 1 2 1 16 15 1 2 2 16 14 1 2 1 17 14 1 2 2 17 13 1 2 1 18 13 1 2 2 18 12 1 2 1 19 12 1 2 2 19 11 1 2 1 20 11 1 2 2 20 10 1 2 1 21 10 1 2 2 21 9 1 2 1 22 9 1 2 2 22 8 1 2 1 23 8 1 2 2 23 7 1 2 1 24 7 1 2 2 24 6 1 2 1 25 6 1 2 2 25 5 1 2 1 26 5 1 2 2 26 4 1 2 1 27 4 1 2 2 27 3 1 2 1 28 3 1 2 2 28 2 1 2 1 29 2 1 2 2 29 1 1 2 1 30 1
.....and the pattern repeats with each set losing one and each permutation losing one. This is going to be a long haul process.
Yeah, it should have its own thread. Since I didn't start it and know little about, I won't start one. I will go ahead with what I'm doing with an open mind to see where it leads.

I'm probably here unless I'm not.
Dreaming would be a perfectly useless function if it's only purpose was to entertain.
