What I'm about to write absolutely stinks, but it's a sad fact of life.

Of the millions of players that buy lottery tickets a few players will win a lottery jackpot, but most never will.

Given that sad fact of life, it's a big reason why I won't buy midday FF5 tickets. The chances are very good that I wont ever win a FF5 jackpot. Therefore if I do win one, I sure as Hell don't want it to be in a midday drawing that could possibly be split with other players.

Of course I'd take the money and be glad to have it. But for the rest of my life I'd have to walk around knowing that I very likely wont ever see the day where I won a second FF5 evening jackpot. G5

Selling lottery tickets across the entire USA is a massive business. It's a multi-Billion dollar business. Corporations like AT&T, Exxon/Mobil, NetFlix and IBM are multi-billion dollar enterprises. So lottery ticket sales is huge.

That means the people who run the states lottery games are managing an extremely vital not to mention a huge source of revenue for the states, and they know many things about managing that business that most players never even think about or realize.

One thing they fully understand is that the vast majority of players will take any small winnings and immediately buy more lottery tickets with it. So that $25 promo if you buy a FF5 ticket between 6 AM and 1 PM is really just them giving you 25 dollars worth of free FF5 tickets because they know that's what most are going to do with the 25 bucks.

Years ago while living in upstate NY I bought a scratch off where I won $30. The next day I took it to a different retailer than where I bought it. I took it to a "Stewart's Shoppe" an upstate NY coffee/bread, milk and eggs/ice cream/gasoline convenience chain store. A guy working in there was a part timer named "Chris." He was maybe in his late 40's and his day job was working for The U.S. Postal Service. He was a nice guy and was always chatting up the customers. I handed him my ticket and he said "You want the cash or more tickets?" I took the cash. I then asked him if Stewart's management had told him to ask that question. He said "No, I just do it simply because most people want more tickets instead of the cash." I said something like "Really! Is that right?" To which he replied "Hell yeah! Hardly anybody is smart like you. They just blow it on more tickets!"

Player behavior is the same no matter what state you live in. What's happening in New York State with lottery tickets will happen in Florida too. Players in NY hate their midday Take5 drawing. They take a pass on it for the evening draw. The Florida Lottery knew what happened in New York with Take5 when they went to an extra drawing per day a few years ago. Yet Florida went ahead and implemented the midday draw anyway. G5

I have said this to my brother after many years trying to win fantasy five is that anyone who wins it is extremely lucky. I play a lot and I joke to my brother I'm giving them a jackpot chasing after theirs. It's a tough game, if there is someone out there who is getting ahead or even breaking even I salute them because this is one hard game to win. The odds and payouts is where the advantage is in their favor.

Everything that you wrote I agree with. No doubt that it's discouraging to keep on playing only to win small prizes every so often.

But here's something to help keep you from being discouraged. Although we cant see the players that won a jackpot who's names are listed on The Top Prize and Retailer Information Report, I can almost guarantee you that they're NOT all young people that only started playing the lottery recently. In fact if you could see them, what you'd see are older people (45 years of age and up) who would tell you that they have played the lottery for years and never won anything but small prizes. How do I know that? Because that's everybody's story!

Sure they were very lucky.. but it's that persistence that eventually pays off. G5

Still have not gotten one of those instant $25 winners, I played every morning so far but one. I am traveling again so I bought 10 days in advance certain numbers I play regularly and it was $60 this morning and still no $25 winner.

Sooner or later all 36 of FF5's numbers will be drawn in either the midday or evening drawings. That's why #21 might be a good number to play in both drawings. It has not been drawn in either a midday or evening drawing since the midday drawings began on March 20th. The last time it came out was on March 10th. G5

G5---Good idea to beef up the lower tier prizes. Just keep the 2nd prize at $599.00 so I do not have to

pay tax on it.

It's not a Midday curse most working people only play eveings, so more chances to see a winner.

Right you are about most people only play evenings. There have been eleven midday drawings and six of them had no jackpot winner.

Out of eleven evening draws, there have been just three where the jackpot wasn't won. G5

Since March 20th there have been 13 midday drawings. 8 of them have been rolldowns with no jackpot winner. Says it all, doesn't it? G5
