That's untrue. Whoever told you that doesn't understand how the computer based random number generator works on the ticket printer. It don't store previously generated lines or search a central database to see if a line was generated before. It can repeat.

Sometimes it's extremely difficult if not practically impossible to get people to disregard the smoke and mirrors. Instead, they seem to enjoy the ride down the proverbial Garden Path....... helpless to extricate themselves from being totally deceived by known forces in their midst who would argue that they have come here for the sole purpose of helping people. These forces would also argue that they have a winning MIRACLE system; that is, until asked to post numbers before the drawing !

Probably a highly guarded secret but because of the high number of possible combos, one terminal selling the same numbers on more than one QP for one drawing goes into the "very highly unlikely" file.

DB is 100% correct. The lottery terminal random number generator is capable of producing the same result more than once. It has no feature that checks if something has been generated before. The programming is not much different than what's in any type of electronic device capable of producing random numbers, e.g., your phone, tablet, laptop, graphing or scientific calculator, hand held game, etc. It is unlikely that it will generate a repeat in a game with millions of combinations, but not impossible.

If a game has fewer possible combinations, repeats are more likely. For example, if a lottery terminal generates, say, 300 quick picks a day for a daily pick 4 game, there's a 99% chance it will generate the same thing more than once.

Some people do not understand the difference between physically impossible and highly improbable, nor do they have even a rudimentary understanding of probability, statistics and math. But I guess if they wear the same brand of tin foil as you do, you'll believe anything they say. Your problem.

Perhaps the "whoever told you that" possibly came from the PB Lottery itself as mentioned by rcbbuckeye's post of Dec. 5th regarding Chuck Strutt's Question and Answer column concerning the 70%/30% distribution of winning JACKPOT NUMBERS .
