I have been negotiating with Lady Luck about my upcoming Powerball "All In" adventure for a while now. At first she seemed to be a bit reluctant in helping me win the "Big One" citing some ethical concerns about others asking her for the same thing and she should not play favorites or have *everybody* win the jackpot.

But JustMaybe, you changed that a little bit. She told me about your conversation when you told her to ignore me, and that she is really miffed with you and is not going to do as you asked. I asked her why she was miffed at you and here is what she told me: "JustMaybe mentions Fortuna in the sig line in *all* of his posts and *never* mentions me! To Heck with him!" And then she whispered to me "Fortuna can be his gal for all I care, but for this drawing I will be *your* gal and help you, but just a little bit..."

So, after all of my efforts including *much* sweet-talking, cajoling, pleading, my sworn pledge that I would forever respect her and mention her in *my* posts, and finally after my tearful groveling and begging, she relented and did agree to help me. But, only a tiny bit with a "Sneak Peek" of how my tickets will turn out after I purchase them.

My deal with Lady Luck is this: After I purchase the tickets I am going to hand them to her before the draw for her careful inspection. She still would not promise me the jackpot or even a second place ticket. But, she assures me that after the inspection I can feel really good about certain tickets she hands back. Those tickets will have a beautiful red lipstick imprint from her lips when she gives them her blessing with a "Lady Luck Kiss".

Unfortunately, she also gave me a heads-up about the downside of this deal too. She assures me that after the inspection there will be no reason at all for me to get excited about the tickets she hands back that have a brown smear on them imprinted from a different part of her anatomy...

All my bets are in now and Lady Luck will be here shortly for the inspection. The suspense is killing me!

I don't know for a fact what management thinks, but the worksheet still shows the estimated, and advertised, and the cash value is the cash (prize) that would be needed to buy the annuity if the annuity was being bought. That it also shows the expected sales and he annuity that could be bought with all the cash they expect to have doesn't change what was originally advertised.

That would require sales to be 44% higher than the already updated sales forecast I don't know what time the worksheet was done, but I'm sure they had al of the sales data through 9AM. That's over half of the data for the entire sales period, and they've got plenty of experience at what portion of sales happen each day and what Mondays sales will be relative to Sunday's sales. I'm sure that the supported jackpot of 1.55 billion is still conservative, but I doub they're that far off the mark.

Management may not have come into the office, but I guarantee that there's plenty of senior management paying attention to what's going on. I'd also imagine that sales data from each state is automatically collected and consolidated, management is seeing reports and they already had a sales volume that would trigger a revision without extra review and approval. Even so, I'm not sure if I've ever seen a jackpot update on a Sunday and holidays are more or less an extra Sunday.

It looks like you nailed it after all, and for the first time in a long time sales for a Monday weren't significantly smaller than for the previous Saturday. The final jackpot is reported as $1.201 billion, which is very close to $230 million in sales.

Not that it wasn't already obvious that 1.3 billion was conservative for Wednesday, but since we're now starting about $100 million higher I'd guess we'll see it bumped to at least 1.4 around noon tomorrow. I'm thinking 1.45 or so by drawing time, but nothing between 1.4 and 1.5 will surprise me. I'll figure $300 million in sales, which would mean a cash value $644 million for an annuity of 1.422 billion, and right around a 60% chance of rolling again. With a roll we might see sales of $400 million next Saturday. Sales of $405 million would give us just barely over a 50% chance of rolling.

FWIW, sales for tomorrow's MM jackpot of $302 million are about 40% higher than for a $301 million jackpot in mid-March, but with the price increase that's about 6 million fewer tickets. Even with MM sales starting to creep up I'm wondering if the reduced ticket sales are funneling extra money to this PB run. Lottery sales in general have been going down but current PB sales are well ahead of sales for the April 2024 run that reached 1.4 billion, and Monday's sales matched the Saturday sales for an advertised 1.4 billion in early October 2023. The last time sales were better was when Edwin Castro won the $2.04 billion jackpot in November 2022.

I forget who asked about the chances of reaching 2 billion, but there's roughly a 30% chance of 2 more rolls, depending on how the frenzy goes. If that happens there's a pretty good chance we'd see close to 2 billion or a bit more as the next one.

The Powerball jackpot is $1.3 billion after 40 rolls. This matches the record for the highest number of consecutive rolls of the jackpot. The Powerball jackpot rolled 40 times in a row on three previous occasions. In 2021 where the jackpot reached $0.7 billion, in 2024 where the jackpot reached $1.33 billion and the most famous instance in 2022 where the jackpot reached the US record jackpot of $2.04 billion.

The Mega Millions jackpot has surged by $34 million to $336 million after 19 consecutive rolls—marking the largest increase since the launch of the revised Mega Millions format.

This rise breaks the previous record increase of $25 million and matches the record for the most consecutive rolls (19) in the current version of the game. The last time the jackpot rolled 19 times, it reached 348 million, just slightly above the current total.

There's that increase to 1.4! I agree I think it's going to end up between 1.45 and 1.5 tonight. Saturday is projected at 1.7 but I'll be surprised if it's not between 1.8 and 1.9

My thinking is the out of ordinary factor is when people are nervous about the economy, lottery sales increase, we also haven't had a jackpot over 1B for awhile so there isn't the burn out. And personally I'm putting money I would have spent on mega into PB instead so a lot of other people probably are too. Mega had terrible timing in implementing a price increase but it was in the works long before they knew the economy would be struggling.

If it rolls tonight and Saturday, surely we'll have a new record on Monday!!

The worksheet is reporting a supported annuity of 1.411, and I'd imagine they're still being deliberately conservative, so 1.45 seems likely to be close to the least we should be expecting.

They're forecasting sales of $467 million, and a supported annuity of 1.762, so I'd think it should easily get to 1.8. Based on the current forecast the chance of a rollover tonight is down to 61.9%, and 27.%5 to roll past Saturday. Monday's annuity would be comfortably past the 2 billion mark, but Mondays are always a bit of a mystery. Monday sales have only been better than the previous Saturday on a few rare occasions with very large jackpots, so maybe PB isn't even very sure. The worksheet shows estimated coverage of the possible combinations farther out than actual sales or jackpot estimates, and based on the current estimate they're expecting Monday's sales to drop all the way back to $337 million. That's 50% more than this past Monday's sales, but the recent week to week increases have all been over 100%. I'd figure $450 is closer to the mark, and that would mean an annuity of perhaps 2.15 or so. We need about 2.202 to set a real record by beating the $997,6 million that Edwin Castro collected. 2.207 billion is what we need for an even billion in cash.

The Powerball jackpot has rolled 41 times in a row to reach $1.7 billion. This is the first time Powerball hit 41 consecutive rolls. It also surpasses the Mega Millions record of 36 rolls.

The Mega Millions jackpot has increased by $22 million to $358 million after 20 consecutive roll. This is the highest number of rolls for this version of the game.

With the huge Powerball jackpot being won, a new race has begun. It is safe to say Mega Millions will clearly win this race. There is no way Powerball will catch up to Mega Millions until the Mega Millions jackpot is won. At $358 million, this is the largest Mega Millions jackpot since December 2024.

Our pool won $8 in the September 6 Powerball draw. Now that the Powerball jackpot has been won, the pool will take a break until the Mega Millions jackpot gets a bit larger. This will be the first time I will participate in Mega Millions since joining the pool. Looking forward to seeing how we do.
