I couldn't care less where I buy a ticket.

While I lived in New York State and visited NYC for the day, I did make it a point to buy a ticket while in the city. That was because of the number of winners that the New York Lottery reported on their website we're sold in the 5 Burroughs.

Brooklyn had most of the winners but then if Brooklyn was it's own city it'd be the 6th largest city in The USA.

Erie County produced a lot of winners too. Buffalo is in Erie County. The county I lived in didn't produce many big winners. Occasionally it did but that was not very often. G5

Just because we don’t personally see wealthy people buying lottery tickets doesn’t mean they don’t buy them. Over three years of delivering DoorDash, I was surprised by how often I delivered soul food, barbecue ribs, and other comfort foods to some of the most affluent neighborhoods. It reminded me that many assumptions about people’s habits are based on stereotypes rather than reality.

The same applies to lottery tickets. Wealthy people may buy them less publicly, less frequently, or simply in places where we don’t notice. We also don’t typically see wealthy people buying alcohol, using drugs, or engaging in other private behaviors, but that doesn’t mean those behaviors don’t occur.

It’s important to separate what we observe from what is actually happening. Not seeing something firsthand is not proof that it doesn’t exist. People from all income levels enjoy taking a chance now and then—the difference is often visibility, not participation.

that's not a big reason, it's a minor reason. upscale grocery chains sell lottery tickets and wealthy people still buy their own groceries. the 2021 morro bay, california powerball winner bought his at a mid-to-upper tier grocery store. morro bay is hella expensive and most residents there are what we'd call rich.

i will keep rooting for stats to keep buying his tickets in the rich part of town so he can win and become a sensational lottery news story.

In several forms of betting, especially sports betting and betting at horse racing tracks sending in someone else to make your bets is callled "sending in a beard".
