The way I see it for scratchers is the winning ticket or tickets with the jackpot are hiding in a roll somewhere. So the more variety of locations you hit the more likely you have been in proximity of the winning ticket therefore increasing your chances of running into it. (Versus just buying from the same store every time.) I make it a point when i travel to new cities to buy scratchers from their local places.

For drawings like Powerball I don't think it really matters where you buy the ticket. Other than certain states are more tax favorable to win in versus others.

The more seeds of opportunity you plant the luckier you will become!

That's not correct. The probability of buying a winning scratch off ticket has nothing to do with how many different locations you visit. It is solely how many tickets you buy.

For PB, your state taxes will not go down if you buy it in a different state. Your taxes could go up. The only way to reduce your state tax bill is to move, and you have to move before you buy the ticket, not after you buy the ticket and win.

Tucker Black, I'm not so sure about what you posted. When the Illinois lottery website used to post where winning tickets had been sold many of those locations were White Hen Pantry stores ( a chain of stores) in Northern Illinois.

does any given state lottery deliver rolls of scratchers to its retail partners in a truly random fashion, or do certain retailers get sweetheart deals? who knows.

I didn't say Chicago either. Most people who live in northern Illinois live in Chicago or a suburb thereof.

What if a pack of scratch offs with a top prize winning ticket inside of it is sitting in a warehouse waiting to be sent out to retailers? You can't buy that particular ticket.

In The State of New York, all scratch off tickets for any given game are printed and then shipped to a warehouse. Some of those packs are immediately distributed to retailers, but not every pack is immediately sent out. Retailers reorder them when they get low and need to replenish what they have in their store.

When the last remaining top prize for any given game is claimed, at that point all tickets must be removed from retailers shelves and sent back to the warehouse. G5

Yeah good point, it may be true that the roll that has the top prize may not be sent out yet. So I think not only buying from multiple locations but also buying throughout the game period as well could improve your chances of running into the winning scratch off ticket.

The more seeds of opportunity you plant the luckier you will become!

NY state has over 15,000 lottery retailers. Good luck trying those 4-6 grand prize winners.

Before you play there are 2 choices to make. Low sum or high sum and consecutive pair or no consecutive pair. Choose correctly and you go from 120 combos down to 30. Not a bad starting point.
