It all depends on the numbers and what I think will play.  Primarily I am a Straight Shooter as I've developed a way to eliminate certain digits in certain positions a lot of the times.

When playing I might play a combination of ways such as $1.00 Straight on a combination that I think has a really high probability of  hitting (might even play it more then once), 50 cent straight/combo on 3 digits I think will hit but want to cover all bases as Im dont feel confident about the straight, or 50 cent bet straight on only the Alpha Pattern I believe will hit, 50 cent combo on 3 digits I think will hit.

When it comes to Doubles I generally play 50 cent combo because I would rather spend the extra 50 cents for a straight then a 50 cent straight/combo as the extra 50 cents would get me $250.00 instead of $90.00 if I had the straight I played wrong.

In Texas we get $250 for a 50 cent straight, $500 for a $1.00 straight, $2500 for a $5.00 straight.  Combo play is the same prices PER Straight like...638 six ways at $5.00 a play would cost you $30.00 to play but would pay off $2500.00 or a 50 cent combo would cost you $3.00 and pay $250.00.

Any Order bets are $40 and $80 for 50 cent and 1.00 and a $5.00 any order would be $400.00.

A couple people have mentioned that if they play doubles, they 'combo' the bet.  I don't play doubles too often, but when I do, I play them that way too....it's the only way to go.

It boils down to what your focus and success is on.  If you get a lot of box hits then play box, if there's an even mix then play straight/box, and if you get more straights than boxes, bet straight.

Personally, It'd bother me more to lose $250 than lose $40 (just because I bet it the wrong way);  and I can double my bets on the straights by eliminating the box betting to fit in with my budget.

One more comment.....stick with your Pick-3 budget religiously and look for spot plays.  If you don't have a good evening play then use the money you saved last night and apply it to your next bet.  This way you have an opportunity to win more money per pick bet.

Example, I had 2$ straight on 762 last week because of carry-over betting.  It came in 672, so I lost, but my potential win would have been $1000 and I didn't spend any more money than I would have on my daily budget, which is the equivalent of a pack of smokes.

Just my two cents-worth for money management.

Patience, spot plays...it applies to all forms of gambling.

      Good luck my friends!
