A couple people have mentioned that if they play doubles, they 'combo' the bet. I don't play doubles too often, but when I do, I play them that way too....it's the only way to go.
It boils down to what your focus and success is on. If you get a lot of box hits then play box, if there's an even mix then play straight/box, and if you get more straights than boxes, bet straight.
Personally, It'd bother me more to lose $250 than lose $40 (just because I bet it the wrong way); and I can double my bets on the straights by eliminating the box betting to fit in with my budget.
One more comment.....stick with your Pick-3 budget religiously and look for spot plays. If you don't have a good evening play then use the money you saved last night and apply it to your next bet. This way you have an opportunity to win more money per pick bet.
Example, I had 2$ straight on 762 last week because of carry-over betting. It came in 672, so I lost, but my potential win would have been $1000 and I didn't spend any more money than I would have on my daily budget, which is the equivalent of a pack of smokes.
Just my two cents-worth for money management.
Patience, spot plays...it applies to all forms of gambling.
Good luck my friends!
