It would make sense for California to join Mega Millions, because as DoctorEw mentioned, no state bordering California has Mega Millions, and for Florida to join Powerball, since no state bordering Florida has Powerball.  I must also point out that California and Florida are currently the only two states with lotteries that don't have Powerball or Mega Millions.

California does not need to go multi-state though, because they are one hell of a big state!

i think going multi-state is the last of their worries right now with a near $100 million jackpot.  i think they're enjoying the sales that the super lotto plus jackpot is bringing.

I've redone my website.  Go to www.dr-ew.com.  I kept a lot of the old stuff, and I've added some new stuff.  Look for more new stuff in the coming weeks.

CA should just leave it up to the players.  They should just survey the players and see which game the players want to play.

Yes it would be nice if powerball would change if California joined but I dont think they would. After all megamillions pushed the big lie of 400 million pots and have had a long string of small pots. Powerball would say that with more people playing the pots would grow but in the end they would have the same small pots they have now.

I do hope that if they change powerball they get rid of the rediculous cap rule it has now. The government takes enough now without some game limiting how much the pot can get upto.

With the way people keep winning the Powerball jackpots, I don't think the cap is a problem.

I wish CA and FL started a third giant-jackpot game.

it wouldn't get mch support because if they wanted other states to join, they would have to wait until after their contracts with powerball and mega millions ended.

I was just thinking about that. That might actually be a decent idea. Seeing the populations of both CA and FL, just those two states could create huge jackpots just by themselves. They might get other states to leave Powerball or MM, and join their game. But if they CA and FL teamed up, I would strongly consider doing something new and fresh, a brand new lotto concept. Maybe make players match their numbers IN ORDER. Or maybe do something along the lines of Daily Millions (one of most underrated games ever).

                      2by2 (KS & NE) actually is a mini-Daily Millions.

Texas is currently talking to California and Florida officials about a 3-state game. No information on what game might be played has been revealed.  Apparently, California is willing, but Florida is still thinking about it.

I think the game, if one developes,  will be jackpot oriented - i.e. very difficult to win and big profits for the politicians.

See minutes of TLC meeting for August at the Texas lottery website.

FL's Jeb Bush kept the state out of Powerball.

California is to greedy to do a multi-state lottery.
