L iberal, Yep a Self Defined One

someone sent this to me and I thought it was worth passing along.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=DiYgpPB1kwU

the lyrics:

Chorus:
In God We Still Trust
Here in America

He's the one we turn to every time
The goin' gets rough
He is the source of all our Strength
The One who watches over us
Here in America
In God We Still Trust

Now there are those among us, who want to push Him out,
And erase His name from everything, this country's all about,
From the Schoolhouse to the Courthouse, they're Silencing His Word,
Now it's time for all Believers, to make our Voices heard.

In God We Still Trust,
Here in America
He's the one we turn to every time
The goin' gets rough
He is the source of all our Strength
The One who watches over us
Here in America
In God We Still Trust

Here in America
Here in America
Here in America,

In God We Still Trust
Here in America,

In God We Still Trust
Here in America

Envoy Regrets 'stupidity' comment on Iraq

FORMER defence chief General Peter Cosgrove today warned that terrorists in Iraq would see potential victory in any signs of early departure by coalition forces.
General Cosgrove said the violence appeared to ebb and flow, diminishing when the stakeholders from the major communal groups, the Kurds, Shia and Sunni saw prospects of hope.

He ruled out premature withdrawal.

"The people in Iraq and the global terrorists who also have a stake in Iraq are very vigilant for those sorts of signs," he told ABC radio.
"If they understand that the foreign forces that are in there will support the Iraqi government until this peace and stability is a prospect, if they feel that is happening early they will rack that up as a victory in the making."

General Cosgrove, now touring Australia promoting his autobiography, said Iraq needed some form of enduring political accommodation so that all elements and interests believed they had a seat at the table.

He said a political outcome would give an opportunity for security forces to provide a reasonably safe and stable environment in which ordinary Iraqis could go about their business without concern that they were going to be bombed by somebody from another group.

"I would think everybody ought to be moving hard to make sure that politically within Iraq, people can have confidence that their interests will be represented. That will help."

Meanwhile, a senior US diplomat has retracted comments he made in an interview with Al-Jazeera in which he said Washington had shown "arrogance'' and "stupidity'' in its dealing with Iraq.

Alberto Fernandez, US State Department director of public diplomacy in the Near Eastern Affairs bureau, said he realized after reading the interview transcript that he "seriously misspoke'' in using the phrase "there has been arrogance and stupidity'' by the United States in Iraq.

"This represents neither my views nor those of the State Department. I apologize,'' Fernandez said in a statement released by the department.

On Saturday Fernandez gave an interview to Al-Jazeera television in which he said, speaking in Arabic, that "there have been many mistakes in the (US) foreign policy in Iraq.''

"We tried to do our best, but I believe that there is a great room for strong criticism, because - undoubtedly - there was arrogance and stupidity in US (dealing) with Iraq.''

Fernandez had added that the United States is ready to talk with
"those who care for Iraq'' to end the civil strife raging there.

"We are open to dialogue. We all believe at the end of the day ... that the solution to the inferno in Iraq is completely linked to an effective national Iraqi reconciliation,'' Fernandez told Al-Jazeera.

Unfair but Nearly Balanced

Conservative Roundup

by Jerome ArmstrongRepublicans are widely spreading the prospect from Drudge and Barron's that: Our analysis -- based on a race-by-race examination of campaign-finance data -- suggests that the GOP will hang on to both chambers, at least nominally. We expect the Republican majority in the House to fall by eight seats, to 224 of the chamber's 435. At the very worst, our analysis suggests, the party's loss could be as large as 14 seats, leaving a one-seat majority. But that is still a far cry from the 20-seat loss some are predicting. In the Senate, with 100 seats, we see the GOP winding up with 52, down three.  8 in the House and 3 in the Senate for Dems, hmm... Mark Kennedy in MN and Conrad Burns in MT will win?

Matt Stoller, C-Span this morning, jabbering about something or other political

C-Span this morning, .

Update: Well wow did I whiff that first question. Ironically, it was about Joe Lieberman and Ned Lamont, something I know a lot about relatively speaking. The question was about the Q-poll, and the 17 point lead. What I wanted to say, but did not, is that it is Joe Lieberman's explicit softening of his war stance, where he uses antiwar rhetoric, that has led to his electoral position. I also wanted to point out that the poll is overstated, but having two ideas in your head at the same time on TV is not something I'd recommend.

The rest of the roundtable was good. There was one particularly poignant question from a WWII veteran who discussed his fears about the nature of the republic in the context of George W. Bush. He asked Mary Katherine Ham what she stands for, at what point she would say enough is enough, what her principles are. It was a very difficult question for all Republican voters, and one that I hope they ponder and take seriously.

As an aside, Mary Katherine is really nice

Child's Request for Money

A little boy wanted $100.00 very badly and prayed for weeks, but
nothing happened.

Then he decided to write God a letter requesting the $100.00.

when the postal authorities received the letter to  God , USA, they
decided to send it to the President.

The President was so amused that he instructed his secretary to send
the little boy a $5.00 bill.

The President thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy.

The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 bill and sat down to
write a thank-you note to God, which read:

Dear God: Thank you very much for sending the money.
However, I noticed that for some reason you sent it through Washington, DC.,
and those a.sho..s deducted $95.00 in taxes

PA Speculative and Statistical SKIP info

Its not a system and its not really math so, it must be a BLOG

The six variations for the ‘boxed’ 5-2-9 in the PA 3 nitely drawings has occurred at least 36 times since 1/18/90 or in 6,109 drawings.  The last extremely long skip for this Combination (529) happened on 3/4/03 after 529 days then next occurred as 9-5-2 after 228 skips.  And of course this BOXED 5-2-9  could show up in a couple of days or in 56 days; but then  it could go missing for another  two or three hundred days.

On the Dollar Bill

the following was emailed to me by a fellow Homeland employee and

most of his patriotic rhetoric and personal assertions are omitted)

Our present dollar bill design first came off the presses in 1957.

It is a cotton and linen blend, with red and blue minute silk fibers running through it with a special blend of ink, contents we will never know.
It is overprinted with symbols and then it is starched to make it water resistant and pressed to give it that nice crisp look.
If you look on the front of the bill, you will see the United States Treasury Seal.
On the top you will see the scales-- for a balanced budget?
In the center is a carpenter's square, a tool used for an even cut.
Underneath is the Key to the United States Treasury.

On the backside are two circles.
Both circles, together, comprise the Great Seal of the United States.
The First Continental Congress requested that Benjamin Franklin and a group of men come up with a Seal.
It took them four years to accomplish this task and another two years to get it approved.
The left circle is an uncapped Pyramid.
the face is lighted, and the western side is dark.
Inside the capstone you have the all-seeing eye, an ancient symbol for divinity.
It was Franklin's belief that one man couldn't do it alone, but a group of men, with the help of God, could do anything. "IN! GOD WE TRUST" is on this currency.
The Latin above the pyramid, ANNUIT COEPTIS, means, "God has favored our undertaking."
The Latin below the pyramid, NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM, means, "A new order has begun."
At the base of the pyramid is the Roman numeral for 1776.
The right circle is on every national cemetery and the Parade of Flags at the Bushnell, Florida National Cemetery. It is the centerpiece of most heroes' monuments.  A slightly modified version is the seal of the President of the United States, and it is always visible whenever he speaks.
The Bald Eagle was selected as a symbol for victory because it is strong and not afraid of a storm; and smart enough to soar above it.

The unsupported shield likely signifying America’s ability to stand on its own. At the top of that shield is a white bar signifying congress.
In the Eagle's beak is written: "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (one nation from many people).  Above the Eagle are the thirteen stars, representing the thirteen original colonies.  In the eagle’s talons is an olive branch and arrows.

The Eagle faces the olive branch Except in time of war, its gaze turns toward the arrows.

The Number 13 believed to be unlucky.
But, there are:
13 original colonies,
13 signers of the Declaration of Independence,
13 stripes on our flag,
13 steps on the Pyramid,
13 letters in the Latin above,
13 letters in "E Pluribus Unum,"
13 stars above the Eagle,
13 bars on that shield,
13 leaves on the olive branch,
13 fruits, and if you look closely,
13 arrows.
