Project BB1! - Status

New desktop due Wed. Also, I should hit the tournament trail again next Friday - Phoenix AZ.

I should have the computer set up before I leave, but who knows? I want to move my office around some and this will be an opportunity to so so, but if it takes more time than planned the project will be delayed. I'm still dealing with details in my personal life as well, so we shall see.....

Entry #310

Project BB1 - Startup

Startup has been deferred - demands on personal time and computer problems have caused delays.

Some of the software necessary for this was unique to the old desktop and had to be reordered and installed on the laptop - not a major problem, as I also received the updates, complete with all the new bells and whistles.

The last part of the prestart data generation is nearly complete - this was a tougher task than originally anticipated.

Old printer died, had to be replaced. Desktop computer is down and out - has to be replaced. New one on order, due the middle of January. But with it went (possibly) the only chance I had to generate the data automatically, as the program I used to generate same will not run on the 64-bit Windows system. I either have to find an alternate way to do this or settle on producing the data by hand - a long process, but it can be done.

Additionally, it looks as if the project requirements have changed - the size of the entire project will be more than doubled as a result. My bank account will be happy, but I may have to bid a fond farewell to my social life for a while.....

Project BB1 Startup

Project BB1 is an extension of Project BB10. Two massive text files were built as templates and now comes the time to fill in the blanks. This is a long-term project - I probably won't be touching on it every time I come in here but it'll never be far away.

Projects bb9 and bb10 were accepted as submitted - no corrections or modifications necessary.

Back Home

Back yesterday. Didn't place in either tournament. Good partners, enjoyed their play and the pleasure of their company.

I'll be trying to get a website up and running in the next couple of weeks. I'll also be rearranging my office space - I hope that'll be enough to keep me out of trouble, off the streets and out of the bars.

Project BB

Ver. 10.1 built, tested, shipped. I instituted new QA procedures during the build; this shouldn't be returned - we'll see. New input formatting, I may go back to some of the earlier builds, incorporate this and send as updates - fewer opportunities for input errors. Client ID will be 2.24.168.9.6.4 - I think.

New Hazleton PA, Sacramento CA

Leaving today for three weeks, hitting the pinochle tournament trail again. Taking the laptop with meas usual, will be working on Project BB Ver. 10 while I'm away. Build progressing smoothly.

Entry #305

Project BB

Ver. 8.4 corrected, returned. While in the correction process I found additional errors not discovered by me during the testing process and unreported by the client, also corrected.

All testing files for all previous versions will be re-reviewed, recalls will be issued if, when and as necessary.

Received go-ahead on Ver. 10. I'll be away for about three weeks starting next Tuesday, initial work will be performed on the laptop as time permits.

All going reasonably well.

Ver. 8.4 recalled by me. Found some errata deep in the file I should have caught when I did the full test on the submitted file. Might take a couple of days to correct, then file will be returned. Client says it's no biggie, but I'm a pain in the butt about these things.

Entry #303

Project BB

Ver. 8.4  - Client ID 2.8.168.9.6.6 - tested, submitted. This had to be rebuilt twice - hopefully this meets requirements.
Ver. 9.0  - Client ID 2.15.168.50.40 - tested, submitted.

Project BB - Status Report

Ver. 6.7  - Client ID 1.10.162.9.6.4 - in client's hands, complete.
Ver. 7.3  - Client ID 2.16.168.50.40 - in client's hands, complete.
Ver. 8.2  - Client ID 2.8.168.9.6.6 - returned as unsat, to be rebuilt.
Ver. 9.0  - Client ID 2.15.168.50.40 - approved, under construction.

Ver. 7.4 complete, tested, returned. I added some mods as part of this, and, as a result, the reduction in size and execution time wasn't, percentagewise, as great as the other two files, but there's still a noticible improvement.

Going to take a few days off. I may start on Ver. 9 but, since the go-ahead hasn't been received, I won't do anything time-consuming - just a little head start.

Entry #300

Project BB

Ver. 6.8 updates complete, tested, returned. Reactions and response to Ver. 8.3 positive and favorable.

Entry #299

Project BB

Ver. 6.7, 7.3, 8.2 returned with change orders last week as expected. While reconstructing Ver 8.2 I inadvertantly came across a way to reduce the size of these files without any change in output. Execution time will be reduced, but the return of the files to the client will be delayed.

Ver. 8.3 tested, returned.

Entry #298

Project BB

Ver. 6.7 - changes completed, fully tested here, returned. Ver. 7.3, Ver. 8.2 returned as well.

Rumors from the office have been heard that there is little happiness with results and output  from the last change order and, as soon as a precedence can be found to justify a change, I should expect all three files to be returned with change orders. Ver. 8, in addition, might require extensive changes in output format. We'll see - I'll be home until the 3rd week of next month.....

Project BB

So much for unemployment, r&r, housecleaning.

Ver. 7.3, Ver. 8.2 returned with change orders. Might be complete and returned as early as tomorrow but that'll take some doing. There should be a small reduction in the file sizes associated with this.

Ver. 6.6 to be rebuilt from the ground up. This will be the only version to require full testing on completion. Along with this will be major changes in output appearance, which has never pleased me.
