Simon Cowell says that he still plays the National Lottery in spite of his reported £200 million (US$330 million) fortune.
The ‘X Factor' and Syco boss made the claims after he entered the Sunday Times' annual music millionaires' top ten list for the first time this year.
"I still buy lottery tickets. I still play," said the music mogul, but then added slightly dubiously, "but I tick the box that says no publicity so no one would know."
Generally, there is no box to be ticked unless the amount won is in excess of £50,000.
Cowell was at number 11 in the influential list last year, but now finds himself at number six.
But he's still some way behind his arch rival Simon Fuller, who is only one place above him but richer by £175 million with a fortune of £375 million.
I always wondered if celebrities/athletes played the lottery, guess I got my answer....LOL...
I would still play in some fashion if I was a millionaire. Maybe not powerball, that's really not that much fun but scratchers or a raffle would still be on my list, as well as slot machines.
It's not different than hearing that George Clooney sits at casinos all night in Vegas. It's just a game ;)
I actually think this is kinda cool. I would never guess that he, of all people, buys tickets.
Simon is cool ............
I will still play my $1 when I win my Jackpot!
Lottery is fun, Good luck Simon.
me thinks he's probably already won from the lottery .. hence the CHUBBY bank account
When he wins big hope he'll donate it to charity
I know if and when I win, I aspire to be a professional craps player to find myself at casinos in Vegas and Tunica and Atlantic City and around the world.
What I want to know is, why doesnt the US give the option to select "no publicity please"?

WHY SIMON ?????LOL!!!!!
Bet he plays for the joy of playing. Much easier to win with a mindset of prospertiy than one of poverty consciousness.
Good luck Simon!
Why does Simon Cowell still plays the lottery?
Or that Simon simply takes me on as a "charity" case and gives a few million dollars net to me. Perhaps I'd appreciate Simon's love move more than the average charity would.
I'd bet it's just an impulse buy, if the jackpot is big.
Can't imagine him making sure to play every drawing.
