Euro Millions launches new Tuesday draw with €100M jackpot

Euro MillionsEuro Millions: Euro Millions launches new Tuesday draw with €100M jackpot

Euro Millions, the multi-country lottery game played amongst European countries, is set to implement changes to the game and launch a new weekly lottery draw on Tuesdays — with a massive €100 million (US$143M) jackpot.

A sales frenzy is expected for the first draw as players have just four days to buy their tickets, which went on sale yesterday.

The special draw marks Euro Millions moving to twice a week, as well as other changes to the game which are designed to create bigger jackpots and more winners.

As well as the new Tuesday draw, a new prize tier will be introduced where players will win an estimated £2.70 for matching just two main numbers.

Players will now be able to choose from 11 Lucky Stars instead of nine.  In Britain's National Lottery, there will also be two guaranteed millionaires created by the Euro Millions Millionaire Raffle each week.

The overall odds of winning a prize on the game shorten from 1-in-24 to 1-in-13 — with the total number of prizes every week in Europe expected to more than double from 1.9 million a week to 4.6 million.

A Euro Millions spokesperson said: "You can now win a massive Euro Millions jackpot even earlier in the week with the fantastic Tuesday draw. By the weekend you could be propelled into the exclusive world of the jet set, and with €100 million up for grabs you could take your family and friends with you."

Lottery players worldwide can participate in the rare Euro Millions jackpot by playing online through Lottery Post's online lottery service partner

A single UK winner of €100 million (£85 million) would immediately rocket into second place on the National Lottery Rich List, behind the Euro Millions winners who banked £113 million last October.

It would also launch them overnight on to the Welsh Rich List headed by Cardiff-born Michael Moritz, the California-based private equity man who backed Google with a timely early investment. A single Welsh winner would top Caerleon Euro Millions winners Les Scadding and Samantha Peachy-Scadding, who won a £45 million jackpot in November 2009.

If no ticket matches all five main numbers and two Lucky Star numbers to win the jackpot in the first Tuesday Euro Millions draw, then it will roll to the Friday draw three days later.

I would love to see weekly raffles, with top dog prize of 1 million.

The best thing is the lottery is not taxed in Europe, so this would be equivalent to a $300 Million jackpot in the US. And you get an immediate lump sum payment.

Very true, while us Americans might be envying our European counterpants for paying no taxes for the lottery (actually, the taxes are removed before the advertised amount is displayed which makes it SORT of the same, still, does not look that way). You do realize that the standard of living cannot be compared per se, cost of living differs and how wealth is viewed differs from our own understanding. Needless to say, more money would be spent on their cost of living, income is not really manipulated for that much tax credit (please correct me anyone if I am wrong, which I am certain I am not). Alas, being a Capitalist nation as against a MIXED economy in Europe (trust me, it isn't socialism as we think), that money would be put to use, taxes here and there, high cost of fueling their vehicles, food is more expensive in stores, trust me, our British counterpants actually ENVY the low price us Americans pay at the pump, irony, isn't it? More or less, while it might seem that Euro millions is a lot more money, trust me, it would be spent rather well in the economy, so do not fret people, do not sigh with envy, you might be surprised.

I forgot to ask and make one obvious observation, standard of living side, the state of the economy and lack of productive workforce who are actually working for obvious reasons of high unemployment (what else could it be?) Might give a different view on this, am I right?

You are 100% correct Sandia, The cost of living is extremely expensive. People here should not be envious, try living there and you will definately say "God Bless America". it seem as if they have V.A.T (Value Added Tax) for everything including TV's they own. With that amount of money up for grabs I will work up some Power Numbers to give to my sister to play for herself.

This is a good thing...Congrats Euro Millions!
