I'm betting they'll be broke in less than 5 years!

I Agree!

one thing, money does not care who has it. and now 2 idiots have a lot of it....well for a litlle while, and then they will sell this dump they are building for half the price, to get some cash in about 3 years...LOL!!!

If they are broke in 5 years someone will be able to pick it up for half what they spent on it.

It is their money, they should enjoy it  how they want. although talking to that guy who lost the £4.7 mill might be a good idea on seeing how plans can go wrong.

the fact that theyre not  taling about  investing and  protecting the capital, ad just spending the capital says they wont have it long. i hope im wrong and the  reporter just found all tat talk a little boring and cut it from the article

Different Strokes for Different Folks.  These two lotto winners are young and idealistic.  I wish them the best, but it does seem that they are making some unwise choices with their money.  This strange concept home being the biggest one.  I wish I had the money to build my dream home too.  Good Luck on your Dream House/Mansion!  May it be everything you hoped it would be!  Banana

May the couple live long, be healthy since  they already got the wealthy down pretty good.

Not a fan of the style of architect. They get to build their dream home. Operative word "theirs".

Looks like a house from The Jetsons.

I hope it's one of those self sufficient homes with solar power or something

so they won't have a light bill.

It's a fun amount of $$$s to have netted.  The staircase sounds uplifting!  I think this couple will be happier, in the long run, if they go with a smaller 5 car, extra tall garage ... holding 4 cars and 1 big tractor to mow the 3 acres or whatever it is.  Probably best to only have 1 first floor "servant quarters" for one full-time grocery shopper/cook/cleaner.  Better to have only one other servant as part-time gardener/groundskeeper.  This should certainly put their mansion at a more reasonable price of $4M (the property taxes will probably go up each year, so they'll spend an additional $.6M within two decades).  They could put their saved $1M towards furnishings for home and outbuildings.  Hopefully, this couple won't place their mansion and outbuildings closer than within 3/4ths acre of a thin creek!

I hope this dreaming couple thoroughly enjoys their win, home, cars, and servants -- whatever they end up doing!

I don't understand why they went public in the first place. The UK lottery allows winners the remain anonymous.

Judging from how they are spending their new-found wealth, it will soon be frittered away, and then people won't bother them anymore.

We all get a lot out of lotteries!
