COLUMBIA, SC — At his mom's urging, a Manning, South Carolina, man bought a lottery ticket on the anniversary of his father's death. Winning $150,000 was bittersweet.
The winner declined to publicize his name but shared he will honor his late father by using the winnings to look after his mother.
The aptly named $150 Grand ticket was purchased at the Corner Food Stop on S. Boundary St. in Manning for $5.
As of August 19, one top prize of $150,000 remains in the $150 Grand game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 480,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Corner Food Stop received a commission of $1,500.
To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3.1 billion transferred to support education, according to lottery officials.
Congratulations and condolences are in order.
Congratulations, sir, on your substantial lottery win! Enjoy these monies over the next half-to-full decade or so; just not all on additional gambling though. No need to view situation as "bittersweat," since all beings are required to pass away.
Congratulation to the winner you are a good son for looking after your mom. May your father RIP
I am happy that the woman and her son have won $150,000. Maybe I should reconsider my position on scratch tickets. I'll try Cardillac Riches tomorrow and see how it goes.
Amen. What a good son.
Maybe I should start buying lottery tickets to commemorate an occasion rather than just to win money.
Now,that's a novel idea.
Ummm ...it is our responsibility to take care of our parents.
It must have been hard for him to cope up with his father's death. However he is still fortunate to win this prize for him to be able to secure his future as well as to use the money to take care of his mother. I hope he will be able to use the money wisely.
