They really could not have picked a more incompetent attorney. His rationale about "the American public wants to hear from them" is bizarrre. He DOES NOT represent the American public. Of course, he was entitled to bill for all this media and travel time. I would expect a first year law student to have more sense.

Here is what should have been done by the attorney.

-validate the ticket first

-if the winners are required to do a press conference, keep it short. Let them tell a funny story about buying the ticket but no job details.

-Have the attorney state and make it clear this will be the one and only press interview and since they are represented by counsel, no one should solicit or contact them....period.

-

LOL, how about confirming the ticket with the lottery office by phone, then using the ethics lacking attorney go to the conference in their place?  He can get all the publicity he seeks AND deal with people contacting him for donations.  When the frenzy dies down, fire him.  He will still have to be dealing with the people wanting money and will not be on the winners payroll any longer.

Green laugh

no they're not going to run up to them and ask them how much money they have because they aren't going to want anything to do with them. you contradict yourself when you say that you know people in a gated community (which i doubt) that do not socialize and then you question me saying no one will accept them. which is numbskull. and yes they are going to move. what's is crazy about starting your own cul-de-sac neighborhood. they can surround themselves with friends and relatives rather than strangers. sounds logical to me

I don't contradict anything because I do know people in a gated community, and I did not say what my relationship is with them. I said that gated communities tend to keep to themselves as far as other members in the gated community, not all but most. It doesn't mean that they do not have friends and family outside of it. So you can doubt all you want but the reality id that you don't know crap. You make nothing but far-fetched "theories" based on your jackpot envy. And as I said who gives a crap what anyone else in the gated community wants? They don't need them anyway if that was the case, which "I doubt" it would be. You seem to be quite miserable in every post that you post, still bothered by the Robinson's big win? LOL Get over it they won and you lost.

The lawyer messed up as I barely remember what he looks like as I was looking at his daughter the whole time. I barely remember the Robertson's also. Hmmm maybe he is a genius.  LOL

What is so "crazy" about it? They showed it on the Today's show also. It only further validates it as at that time they did not validate the ticket yet. The world already knew and it is proof that he bought the tickets.

Why even play, good luck going back to work.  Give your jobs up to people who need them and enjoy

whatever life you have left.  If You still want to work then do something that will add more jobs for the

rest of us.  I just don't get some people, do something with it or give it all away to you favorite charity.

I really hope they change their minds after a couple weeks because they will most likely have to go into

hiding to get away from everyone asking for money.

I agree. There's no way I'd go back to my current job if I won. If anything I'd be making a plan to take a really long vacation to a few secret destinations while I waited for the hype to die down. And even then I'd return home and at the most get a job working 2-3 days a week on my own schedule so I wouldn't become bored.

precisely. do anything you want to do except returning to your old job working for someone else. ludicrous statement which has caused most of the resentment, lack of concern, lack of congratulations to these people. no, they won't squander it like others have mainly because they don't have a clue on what to do with it.

I would keep working, namely because I am self-employed and have been for 26 years and love what I do. I would just be able to take a lot more breaks and do more for me as opposed to others. I could open other businesses also if I wanted. But the important thing is I have a "choice" and long-term financial security and much more freedom.
